Welcome It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the second annual Great Northern Brahman Sale.

It is an exciting time to be involved in the beef industry and this years’ selling season has proven that investment in leading genetics is rewarded at sale time. With that in mind, we hope you can benefit from the investment we have collectively made within the brahman breed.

We are proud to once again offer a line of females that will cater for both the entry level buyers and people looking for donor prospects. Forty-four stud heifers are on offer with a high percentage of polls throughout and a mix of joined and unjoined females.

Within the joined females you have the opportunity to fast-track your program with joining sires including; NICNEIL SUGARDADDY ($180,000), KENROL DARROCCA (PP) ($40,000), JDH CLANTON, JDH QUENCY, NCC JAGUAR ($67,500), ELROSE FAIRPLAY (PP) and LANES CREEK JAXONITE (PP). Lots 45 and 46 comprise of two pens of five industry relevant commercial heifers that have all been exposed to polled sire LANES CREEK JAXONITE (PP).

Of particular note in the grey section is Lots 1 and 4, both IVF daughters of Cambil Empress 5211 - the Beef Australia 2018 Junior Champion Female and the EKKA 2018 Grand Champion Female. Lot 1 is a polled daughter of go-to polled sire Kenrol Darrocca, AI’d to NICNEIL SUGARDADDY. Lot 4 is a daughter of Cambil foundation sire MR V8 690, AI’d to JDH CLANTON. In the red section, Lot 24 is a polled daughter of carcass powerhouse JOMANDA EL TORO and out of an extremely functional Narranda cow she sells joined to NICNEIL SUGARDADDY. SALE INFORMATION There will be 46 lots on offer at the 2021 Great Northern Brahman Sale, comprising of: > 23 grey females > 21 red females > two pens of 5 commercial heifers.

The sale will be held at Proserpine Showgrounds on Friday, 22 October 2021.

VENDOR PROFILES The Great Northern Brahman Sale is brought to you by the North Queensland Cattle Consortium (NQCC). What started out as a pipe dream between like-minded and progressive brahman breeders has now become a reality - holding two sales with outstanding results. The 2021 Great Northern Brahman Sale is the third sale to be held by the NQCC. The NQCC is made up of five brahman breeders - Cambil Brahmans, Ooline Brahmans, Badilla Brahmans, Palm Creek Brahmans and Burdekin Brahmans. Situated across Central and North Queensland, each operation is family-owned and run, with all breeders sharing a joint passion in breeding leading brahman genetics to improve the overall brahman breed.

The Camm family have been running cattle for many years over several generations in the coastal Whitsundays and the Central Highlands in Qld. Bill and Lawson realised the benefits of the Brahman breed early in their own commercial herd and the Cambil stud was formed in 1985 when they commenced breeding bulls for their own use.

For over 35 years Cambil have sourced top quality, functional cattle from leading studs, with a significant emphasis placed on selecting practical, beef type cattle with strong commercial traits of bone, length, muscling, temperament, calving ease and mothering ability. Over the years they have imported many sires and genetics from leading studs in the USA and Australia and embarked on an extensive artificial breeding program with their elite females in the continued quest to breed the highest quality cattle.

Cambil Brahmans have stayed true to their core values of breeding cattle with commercial relevance, and with the increased demand for polled cattle, particularly in the north, they have invested heavily in polled genetics in recent years.

Quality females have always been the cornerstone of Cambil Brahmans’ success and they have enjoyed many wins in the show ring including Grand Champion Female at the 2019 Brisbane Exhibition and Grand Champion Female at Beef Australia 2021. They sell bulls each year at the Wilangi Brahman Sale and the Big Country Brahman Sale in Charters Towers and, more recently, high quality females and genetics at the Great Northern Brahman Sale in Proserpine.

Ooline Brahmans is owned and operated by Darren and wife Sue, James and wife Cassandra, Isaac, and Megan Kent. Located in Central Queensland, Ooline Brahmans offers bulls and females for sale at the annual Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale, Big Country Sale in Charters Towers, and the Great Northern Brahman Sale in Proserpine.

Darren commenced breeding purebred brahmans in 1983, purchasing his first stud cows with a focus on fertility, temperament, and carcass traits. With his ongoing commitment to investing in the best brahman genetics, Darren and wife Sue together lead the formation of Ooline Brahmans in 2002.

The family’s commitment to investing in the breed is shown in the recent purchases of Jomanda El Toro (PS) for $150,000, and a share in the $180,000 Nicneil Sugardaddy.

Ooline genetics are continuing to be seen through stud sales and are providing buyers strong returns for their investment, most notably with the current Australian record price heifer being sired by Ooline Manziel (Cambil Dienka sold at the 2020 Great Northern Brahman Sale for $63,000).

Ooline Brahmans is very much a family affair. Each of the family members’ investment and interest in breeding brahmans, achieving success at the same time, has been the ultimate reward for Darren and Sue and shows the family’s commitment to the future of the brahman breed at all levels.

Blake and Renee Chiesa are the pair behind Badilla Brahmans. Sharing a joint passion for breeding brahman cattle, the two invested in a part-share in NCC Dienka 3652 in 2017 and established Badilla Brahmans in 2019. The name “Badilla” is inspired by an original pioneering variety of sugar cane used by Blake’s nonno, who migrated from Italy in the 1940s.

Their stud and commercial cattle operations run on lease country around Ingham. They both have careers outside of agriculture, with Renee working predominately as a large animal veterinarian and Blake as a full-time diesel fitter at Newlands Coal, Glenden.

Blake and Renee were married in May 2021 in their home-town of Ingham, and both share a vision to own a family-run cattle property producing high-quality brahmans with an emphasis on temperament and functionality. They both have a background in agriculture; Blake is a third-generation farmer from the Herbert River Valley where his family farming enterprises include sugar cane production and a commercial brahman cattle operation, and Renee was born and raised on commercial cattle properties in Central and Western Queensland.

The pair are excited about the opportunities available in the agriculture industry, with the ever-growing demand for high-quality Australian beef and the regenerative agricultural practices that will form the future of Australian brahman cattle.

Palm Creek Brahmans is owned and operated by Peter and Mariah Chiesa. A young family of soon-to-be five, they run a stud and commercial brahman operation in the Kennedy Valley, North Queensland, with a number of agistment and lease paddocks from Townsville to Tully and west to Mount Surprise. They live and breath agriculture from soil health to animal performance to the end consumer.

Peter and Mariah both have a background in agriculture. Peter’s family moved from Northern Italy post WWII to the banks of Palm Creek to cut cane, and soon enough farm sugar bush. They had milking cows to utilise the unfarmed land, which further turned into beef cows and a butcher shop – Chiesa & Sons Butchery. Mariah’s family has lived in The Valley since the late 1920s. Initially timber cutters, the family then expanded into farming cattle, bananas and sugar cane.

Peter and Mariah are passionate about breeding functional cattle that are most adapted and suited to their challenging North Queensland climate. They find Brahman Cattle are highly functional and perform the best in their operation. Having been around the Chiesa butcher shop, the pair have a keen interest in the end product, saleable red meat, keeping them grounded with their selection of cattle through type and genetics.

They are excited about the current position the red meat industry holds in Australia, with record prices being reached for all types of livestock, and are determined to keep improving their breeding operation year-on-year with the evident changing genetic gains the brahman industry can accomplish.

Nick and Kira Brownson from Burdekin Brahmans are part of a family-run operation with three properties surrounding the Charters Towers area; Forest Home (a breeder block) on the eastern side, Coronation Park (a breeder block) on the southern side, and Eumara Springs (the fattening block) on the northern side.

An ambitious 15-year-old, Nick started Burdekin Brahmans when he wanted to expand his family’s stud herd to something he could call his own. During his teen years, Nick purchased numerous stud females alongside his parents, John and Diane Brownson.

The family operation is both a commercial and stud herd of grey and red brahmans.

Nick now shares his work and passion for breeding with his wife Kira and two sons Charlie and Henry at Eumara Springs. Nick has always had a passion for cattle, with both sides of his family being involved in the cattle industry.

Nick and Kira are both excited about the soaring cattle prices, property prices and ever-changing markets the industry has brought in the last 12 months. It is something that will always keep them positive and will do for many years to come, as they look to expand their own operation as stud cattle breeders.

A bid cannot be made or accepted after the fall of the hammer unless, in accordance with clause 8, the auctioneer decides to put the lot up again.

Prior to the fall of the hammer the auctioneer shall announce the last bid and receive any further bids. The last price called by the auctioneer at the fall of the hammer shall be the amount at which the lot has been sold.

In the event of a disputed bid, the auctioneer is the sole arbitrator of the successful bidder or the auctioneer may decide to put the lot up again. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

A bidder shall be deemed to be a principal unless, prior to bidding, the bidder has given to the auctioneer a copy of written authority to bid for or on behalf of another person.

The successful bidder at a livestock auction sale must give to the auctioneer at the fall of the hammer: (a)

the purchaser’s name; or

the bid card number which identifies the purchaser; or

(c)

the name of the person on whose behalf the successful bid was made; and

(d)

the Property Identification Code (known as the “PIC”) of destination.

The auction shall be conducted on the basis that the bid price shall be exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). GST shall be added after the fall of the hammer for those sales subject to GST.

The vendor warrants; (a)

That the vendor has (or will have) the right to sell the livestock at the time of delivery; and

(b)

That the purchaser will obtain title on completion of the purchaser’s obligations under this contract including payment.

Clause 20 creates a registrable security interest under the Personal Property Securities Act (Cth) 2009 (PPSA);

If a buyer does not comply with any of these terms and conditions, which includes the requirements of State law, any livestock knocked down to that buyer may be re-sold by public auction or private contract in whatever lots and manner the auctioneer decides. The re-sale may be with or without notice and shall be at the buyer’s risk. The buyer is responsible for all loss and expense arising out of a re-sale and is not entitled to any resulting profit.

The buyer of livestock must pay the agent the full amount of the purchase price in immediate funds on receipt of a tax invoice. Payment is required prior to delivery unless some other time for payment is specified in an agreement between the buyer and the auctioneer that was made before the fall of the hammer. If, before delivery, payment has not been made then clauses 20 to 23 apply.

The buyer may not make any claim against the vendor for actions by the vendor or its agent under clauses 20 or 21 and indemnifies the vendor and its agent against any loss, damage, costs, expenses, penalties, fines or claims suffered by the vendor, the agent or any person or entity arising from the vendor exercising its rights under clauses 20 or 21.

23.5.

The agent may at any time, assign, transfer, securitise or otherwise dispose of all or any of its rights under these terms and conditions and any debts created pursuant to it (including, without limitation, the rights assigned to it under clause 23.3).

The vendor hereby irrevocably appoints the agent as the vendor’s attorney to:

Whilst all care is applied in recording pedigree information and producing this catalogue, industry experience suggests that the pedigrees of some entries may have errors.

Consequently, the Vendors and the Selling Agents and their representative(s) do not assume any responsibility for the use or interpretation of the information on animals included in this sale catalogue and associated information.

CHAPTER TWO - STANDARD TERMS OF SALE
