Kim Conrad is the Director of Parks and Recreation in Grove City. She shares what you need to know about pickleball – a badminton, tennis, and ping pong combo – which has become a popular part of the Grove City public park scene.
WHEN DID THE FIRST PICKLEBALL COURTS COME TO GROVE CITY?
We first opened the six pickleball courts, now available at Windsor Park, in 2020.
WHAT MAKES PICKLEBALL SO POPULAR?
The appeal is that truly any age and ability can participate. The sport is very inclusive.
WHAT LEVEL OF ABILITY DO YOU NEED TO PLAY?
Because our main focus is public fun, it runs the gamut. We have a lot of people who enjoy hitting the ball around and don’t care how well they do, while some play at a higher level and are competitive.
WILL THERE BE MORE COURTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO?
Yes! When the seven pickleball courts open at Beulah Community Park, hopefully in spring of 2023, Grove City’s courts will more than double.
