THE DAHLSEN FAMILY AND THE QUEST HOTEL IN DALMAHOY STREET T HE construction of the Quest Hotel in Dalmahoy Street has commenced with demolition of the old building centre about to start. The trade drive-through shed will remain and be used by the builder until construction of proposed townhouses has commenced. The Quest Hotel will be three storeys of 60 serviced apartments. The ground floor, in addition to the Quest reception area, will house
Allied Health activities where this consolidation will be of great benefit to health customers in the region. The Quest Hotel will represent the latest in Quest design and will link up with numerous other Quest Hotels around Australia — enhancing the booking arrangements. This project is one of the largest developments undertaken for some time in Bairnsdale. The build has a cost of around $21m and will be 60 per cent owned by the Dahlsen
family with the balance owned by close associates including Brett Neilson of BFN Developments Pty Ltd. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by the end of 2024. Brett Neilson is a Gippsland Commercial Builder and his company BFN Development Pty Ltd is building the Hotel. Brett’s family spend much time at their holiday house at Metung.
BFN has very successfully undertaken several other major projects for the Dahlsen group. The Quest Hotel follows the completion by Brett Neilson of the new trade and roof truss plant at 108 Forge Creek Road, costing approximately $12m. This project followed the very successful subdivision of 28 industrial blocks opposite the complex in Forge Creek Road. The subdivision development cost was about $3m plus, where all blocks
have been sold. Many industrial premises have been built and are in the course of being built. This will centre the industrial activity in the town. The Quest Hotel will be a great contributor to the already stretched accommodation requirements in East Gippsland. It is expected to enhance the mix of accommodation by location and quality.
