If you have pets or children in your home, you know how messy things can get. Consider these elements to protect your home decorating investment:
Satin and eggshell paints are best for hightraffic areas Semi-gloss paint is also durable and washable to allow quick clean up messes
When it comes to carpet and rugs, inevitably there will be a spill or accident. Consider stain resistant carpeting for extra protection or products like STAINMASTER® PetProtect® carpet with built-in stain protection and fade resistance properties.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

If carpet isn't your thing, choose flooring that is durable and scratch-resistant, particularly in homes with kids and pets Consider cost versus benefit when it comes to high-traffic areas and options like bamboo (which is stain and scratch-resistant) or tile for durability.
Furniture can be a big investment, so consider choosing the right colors, materials, and patterns to combat the wear and tear of children and furry family members with claws. Leather might not be the best option for homes with kitty claws, and white furniture might be regrettable with active toddlers Again, stain-resistance is a top priority.

Life is NOT always picture perfect.
Spills and odor happen - wear and tear is inevitable. Choosing durable fabrics is a great way to protect your furniture, draperies, and other furnishings.
We recommend fabrics such as Sunbrella® Performance Fabric and Crypton® intelligent fabrics like these below.

is nature's way of saying Let's Party!
- Robin Williams

For a high-end luxury interior design, subtle updates can make a significant impact without altering the core of the space. Consider incorporating fresh flowers in elegant vases to add a touch of natural beauty and color. Swap out throw pillows and blankets with light, breathable fabrics like linen or high-performance materials in soft, neutral tones to instantly refresh the look while maintaining a sophisticated vibe. These small, thoughtful additions keep your space feeling fresh and dynamic, while preserving the timeless elegance of your design

'Cause a little bit of
is what the whole year is all about.
- John Mayer
TIP - your patio is another room “out” of your home!
When designing an outdoor patio for high-end living, it's essential to treat the space as an extension of your interior, blending comfort and luxury seamlessly. Opt for high-quality outdoor furniture made with durable, weather-resistant fabrics that can withstand both the elements and the occasional spill. Look for materials that are not only built to endure sun exposure and rain but also maintain their color and texture over time. With plush cushions and sleek, modern designs, your outdoor area can become a sophisticated retreat for dining and relaxation, while still reflecting the elevated style of your indoor spaces.

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.”
- Emily Brontë

Cooler temperatures, gorgeous autumn leaves, and spiced cider - what's not to love about fall? Celebrate the season by incorporating warm throws, rustic decor, candles, and fall wreaths in your space. Halloween is also fun to celebrate with DIY decorations including fantastical jack-olanterns and spooky lights. Want to step up your game? is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is time for home."
- Edith Sitwell
As the holiday season approaches, transform your space with intention. Start by selecting a cohesive color palette that complements your existing decor think elegant metallics, cozy neutrals, or traditional reds and greens. Layer in textures with throws, pillows, and table settings to create warmth and comfort. And don’t forget lighting strategically placed candles and string lights can instantly elevate the mood.
✨ Pro Tip: Less is more. Curate your decor to highlight your home’s best features rather than overcrowding. A thoughtfully designed space creates a welcoming atmosphere for you and your guests.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Great Design 4 U – where every detail is designed with you in mind.
These items may be the last on your list to consider when redecorating your home, but don't overlook the big impact that they can make!

Pillows, artwork, shelving, mirrors, clocks, trays, bowls, baskets, glass sculptures, vases... the list goes on and on.
Pick accessories that speak to you but also that help tie your room together based on style and color palette.
REALLY LET YOUR ROOM SHINE!
Get creative! Boxes are baskets are a great way to hide everyday items. Don't overlook storage ottomans and benches - furniture pieces that store items are great!
Make use of every inch of space, especially in smaller homes and condos. Staircases can even be transformed into architectural storage areas instead of ordinary closet space.
THE KEY TO A BEAUTIFUL HOME IS A WELLORGANIZED AND FUNCTIONAL SPACE.

Variety is the spice of life! Don't be afraid to embrace multiple finishes in a room like mixing wood and metal finishes to add depth and variety.
Like polished nickel knobs but love a matte black faucet you found? Don't be afraid to go for it.
MAKE THE MIX PURPOSEFUL AND IT WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!

Whether it's a beautiful chandelier, unique artwork or wallpaper, or a one-of-a-kind furniture piece, pick a focal element for your room.
Architectural and historical elements like intricate crown molding, ceiling medallions, and stained glass really bring character to your home.
Have a newer home but want those architectural details? No problemyou can add them!
HOWEVER YOU CHOOSE TO DO IT, MAKE A STATEMENT!
Build layers in your room from the ground up. Consider patterns and textures to create something truly interesting.
Use a common thread, such as a color, to tie the layers together. For example, in the room below, we mixed a patterned rug with a textured chair, solid sofa and ottoman, wood tables, and multiple patterned pillows, lighting, and artwork.
The result in a room that feels layered and purposeful - all created from a unifying color - blue.
LAYERING DOESN'T MEAN CLUTTERED OR BUSY - IT MEANS FINISHED & UNIQUE.

And my home is

I hired Anna Stowe from Great Design 4U to refurbish my kitchen and help design my living spaces in my new condo in Charlotte. Anna was wonderful. She listened to all of my ideas ( and I had a lot of them), refined the good ones, explained why some wouldn’t work, and added great ideas of her own. The end result is something that is totally me but better. In fact, my two favorite parts of my new design were Anna’s ideas that I initially resisted!
Anna hired and coordinated all of the contractors who worked on my project She hires great people She selected much of the furniture and rugs, the backsplash and kitchen counters, the sink and faucet, and the fabrics and colors used The space is beautiful and I owe it all to Anna
I highly recommend Anna Stowe for your interior design projects
Anna is the BEST. She has a sharp eye, remembers everything and will find what you need! I had so much trouble deciding on bathroom tile, sinks etc during my recent 4 bath renovation. Once I found Anna, she pulled it all together with her magic! She is stuck with me. I’ll never work with anyone else!
Can't give enough great shout outs to Anna and her team. Besides being very talented and having a great eye for design, Anna goes over and beyond with her always cheerful service, communications and feedback. She is extremely personable and knows how to listen to a client and deliver what THEY want! 5 Stars are not Enough!!
