Be sure your child’s backpack weighs no more than 5-10% of body weight. Backpacks should never hang more than 4” below the waistline. Urge your child to wear both shoulder straps, make sure they are wide and padded. Shoulder straps should be adjustable so they can be fitted to your child’s body.
