WELFARE. INCENTIVES.
British racing aims to set a world standard in equine welfare within racing through organisations such as the Horse Welfare Board, an independently chaired panel who have been formed to unite the industry and drive continuous improvement.
British racecourses contribute £270 to Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) per meeting they hold while British sale houses contribute £6 to RoR per lot sold, with the aim to maximise the welfare of retired racehorses.
Training yards and breeding farms in Britain are based in rural areas and are equipped with large paddocks and the best equine rehabilitation facilities. Nearby equine veterinary practices are also common to cater for any needs.
The facilities in England in general are fantastic – that and the care for the horses are things English racing will always have.
