GENERAL INFORMATION ON GRAZ AS A CONFERENCE DESTINATION, WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL AND HOW TO GET HERE.
REASON ENOUGH TO KEEP COMING BACK TO GRAZ. THE BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC CENTRE, THE FLAIR FOR ART AND DESIGN ALONGSIDE THE WIDE VARIETY OF EVENT VENUES TOGETHER MAKE A CONFERENCE STAY IN GRAZ AN ALTOGETHER POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
MEETING IN GRAZ – DELIGHT INCLUDED There’s no doubt about it: Graz is a beautiful city and a great place to live. It was fifteen years ago that Graz sparkled as European
Cultural Capital City and that year had enduring effects on the city – it still bears the trendy title of “City of Design”. The historic city centre of Graz is listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and Graz is Austria’s only Capital
of Delight. Graz is the second largest city in Austria. Both historical and modern conference centres are available – depending on preference and capacity, but all featuring up-to-date technical equipment of course. Graz overview | 5
EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND NOT TOO LARGE Graz is also an important university town and a significant centre of research and commerce – this is very much valued by those staging scientific conferences. Yet Graz also has an evident kind of cheerfulness. Most of its outstanding hotels are within easy walking distance of the congress centres and the beautiful, lively historic city centre. People are easy-going, with a zest for life, and eager to please their guests. The cultural programme is full of variety, eclectic and often surprising. In Graz you can expect contrasts. So it is that contemporary art and architecture bring excitement to city life just as much as Graz Opera House, the theatre and a large number of classical and modern festivals.
THE ADVANTAGES OF THE CITY COMBINED WITH EXCURSIONS IN THE REGION Right by the city, Styria can fulfil the dreams of inquisitive epicures, those in pursuit of wellness and lovers of golf, spiriting you away to enchanting landscapes. Styrian wine country is one of the most beautiful and productive regions in Austria, also featuring castles and palaces, hot thermal spas and the wild and romantic Graz hill country, inviting you to a wide choice of excursions. Naturally, in this region there’s no shortage of culinary delights – try for yourself.
