Where Luxury Living Meets Local Expertise

ong before the first yacht makes its way down the Intracoastal this December, a small but mighty army has been at work behind the scenes. Led by a core team and powered by more than 350 volunteers and nearly 50 board members, the effort includes marine engineers, dock captains, decorators, designers, and communications crews—all transforming Fort Lauderdale’s waterways into the stage for one unforgettable night.

Every detail, from refining the theme and aligning marine logistics to coordinating sponsors, rehearsing show elements, and preparing a broadcast-ready production, is meticulously managed under the direction of Lisa Scott-Founds, president and CEO of Winterfest Inc. “Winterfest is more than a parade,” she says. “It’s a celebration of everything that makes this community so vibrant—art, music, culture, and connection.”

Founded in 1971, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade has grown from a neighborhood flotilla into one of the most watched events in the country. Produced by WINTERFEST®, Inc., a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, its mission is to unite residents while

showcasing Greater Fort Lauderdale as a world-class place to live, work, and play.

Today, it’s Florida’s largest one-day liveaudience event and the seventh largest in the United States, drawing more than a million spectators along a 12-mile route from the New River to Lake Santa Barbara. Recognized as The World’s Most Watched Boat Parade, Winterfest generates roughly $50 million in annual economic impact and more than $3 million in media exposure.

That spirit of celebration shines even brighter this year with Romero Britto and Montell Jordan at the helm.

Romero Britto: The Art of Joy

In South Florida, Romero Britto’s work is woven into the very landscape. His bright geometric fields and jubilant figures splash across the Miami skyline—in hotels, airports, and along Biscayne Boulevard, where his sculpture The Heart greets passersby in an embrace of color. His visual language—part pop, part cubism, all optimism—has become a shorthand for sunshine itself.

“When I came to Miami, I didn’t have much, but I had a lot of dreams,” Britto says from inside The Palace, his 60,000-square-foot studio alive with canvases, sculptures, and printing presses. “Every day I walk in, I feel lucky. I never dreamed about having a place this big or this beautiful.”

That gratitude infuses everything he touches,

from global collaborations with Disney, Coca-Cola, and Mini Cooper to monumental installations for the Super Bowl, the Olympics, and the World Cup. “I’ve always believed art should make people feel good,” he says. “It’s about bringing happiness to others. That’s what motivates me every day.”

This fall, Britto’s story came full circle with the release of The Britto Effect, a feature documentary tracing his rise from painting on scraps of cardboard in Recife, Brazil, to becoming one of the most licensed artists of his generation. “When I saw the documentary for the first time, I cried,” he admits. “It made me think about how far life can take you when you believe in what you love and when you work hard and never give up.”

Closer to home, he recently opened a flagship gallery on Las Olas Boulevard—joining sixteen others worldwide. “I wanted something right here in Fort Lauderdale,” he says. “People from all over the world visit, and it feels like an extension of Miami’s creativity.”

As a young man, Britto once dreamed of becoming an ambassador, even enrolling in law school before art rerouted his destiny. In many ways, he’s

“I LOVE SOUTH FLORIDA AND EVERYTHING THIS EVENT REPRESENTS. IT’S ABOUT JOY ON THE WATER, IT’S ABOUT COMMUNITY, IT’S ABOUT CELEBRATION.”

living that dream now—an ambassador of happiness whose work transcends language and geography.

So when Winterfest invited him to serve as co-Grand Marshal and design the official 2025 poster, the collaboration felt destined. “When they told me I’d be hosting, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s amazing,’” he says. “I love South Florida and everything this event represents. It’s about joy on the water, it’s about community, it’s about celebration.”

The new poster—a swirl of hearts, stars, and motion—will also wrap the Fifth Third Bank Grand Marshal Showboat, turning the lead vessel into a floating art exhibition.

Asked whether he’ll don one of his signature Dolce & Gabbana art-printed suits for parade night, he laughs. “I’ll definitely be wearing something very colorful and celebrating with everybody,” he says. “That’s who I am. Life should be a celebration.”

And on sharing that deck with fellow Grand Marshal Montell Jordan? “I love Montell’s music,” Britto says. “‘This Is How We Do It’—everyone knows it. It’s so joyful. I think we’re going to have an incredible time together. His music brings people happiness too. That’s what connects us.”

CO-GRAND MARSHAL MONTELL JORDAN TURNS

WINTERFEST INTO A CELEBRATION OF RHYTHM, FAITH, AND CONNECTION.

ontell Jordan knows a thing or two about bringing people together. Whether it’s a congregation, a concert crowd, or a community along Fort Lauderdale’s waterways, the Grammy-nominated musician, producer, and pastor thrives on connection. This December, he’ll do just that as co–Grand Marshal of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.

For Winterfest President and CEO Lisa Scott-Founds, Jordan’s participation adds a dynamic new energy to the season. “Montell’s music has this infectious joy that crosses generations,” she says. “When he performs, people light up. He’s not only an incredible entertainer but someone who leads with faith, gratitude, and heart— everything Winterfest celebrates.”

“This event is about joy on the water,” Jordan says. “It’s people coming together from every walk of life. That’s what I love most—it’s community in motion.”

It’s a fitting role for a man whose music has long been the soundtrack to celebration. Nearly three decades after his breakout hit “This Is How We Do It” first topped the charts, Jordan still can’t escape its impact, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I could go anywhere in the world, and when that song starts, people smile,” he says. “It’s incredible that something I wrote so long ago still brings people joy. That’s the gift.”

A New Chapter in Harmony

Today, Jordan’s stage is broader than ever, built on the same passion that first drove his music. He continues to write, record, and perform, but now his artistry shares the spotlight with his ministry. Together with his wife, Kristin, his partner in life and purpose for more than 30 years, he leads Marriage Masterpeace , a faith-based organization that helps couples strengthen connection and

rediscover purpose.

“When people see us onstage now, it’s not just music—it’s ministry,” he explains.

“We talk about what it looks like to do life together, to love and serve each other the way God designed. If our story can give another couple hope, that’s the greatest stage we could ever stand on.”

The two travel the world hosting conferences and workshops that blend music, storytelling, and faith. “Music and ministry are the same to me,” he says. “Both are about healing, both are about harmony, both are about helping people feel seen.”

That sense of purpose deepened after

a personal trial that changed his perspective. Following a prostatecancer diagnosis in 2023 and surgery to remove his prostate, Jordan learned in 2024 that the cancer had returned in his lymph nodes.

“I still go numb a little bit,” he admits. “I’m the type of person that tries to live a life of moderation in what I eat and how I live. I don’t drink or smoke, I work out, I do what I can. So hearing that it was back—it was hard to process.”

Instead of retreating, he turned advocacy into action. He and

Jordan is a Grammy-nominated musician, producer and minister.

Kristin began filming their journey for a forthcoming documentary titled Sustained , which chronicles his experience with honesty and hope. “We started filming because we didn’t know how to tell our family or who to let in,” he says. “For me, as a man of color, it was uncharted territory—nobody was really talking about it. But I knew I wanted it to help someone else, to say, ‘You’re not alone.’”

Now a global ambassador for ZERO Prostate Cancer, Jordan uses his platform to raise awareness and encourage men to get screened early. “Early detection is the thing that allows me to have a choice to treat it and live—and to keep giving myself the best quality of life possible,” he says. “It’s OK to cry. It’s OK to shake your fist at God. It’s OK to feel fear, but doing nothing is not an option.”

As he nears the end of treatment, Jordan looks ahead with renewed faith. “I’ll be a two-time cancer survivor by the time we get to Fort Lauderdale,” he says. “Something to celebrate for sure.”

The Sound of Celebration

And celebrate he will, through music. Jordan plans to perform during Winterfest festivities, possibly debuting a new holiday single that captures the season’s warmth and wit.

“I’ve got a new Christmas song called 'Santa Will Be Late',” he says, smiling. “It’s playful and soulful. It’s about how joy doesn’t always arrive on time, but it always arrives. Maybe I’ll debut it during Winterfest. It just feels right.”

Though the co–Grand Marshals haven’t officially met, Jordan already feels a connection to his counterpart, pop artist Romero Britto. “I’ve met him through his work,” he says. “His art, his colors, his culture—it all comes out of him for us to experience. I’m the guy that’ll say, ‘Let me hold your light while you shine.’ I’m the soundtrack to his brightness.”

For Jordan, the parade represents something larger than spectacle—it’s a reflection of resilience, faith, and joy shared on a grand scale. “When I can reach the space where I get to do what I love, and it’s what God loves me doing, that’s leveling up to the highest degree,” he says.

One Night, One Message

For Jordan, Winterfest mirrors his life’s mission—to remind people that hope and faith can thrive in even the hardest seasons. “When art and music meet joy, that’s when real connection happens,” he says. “Winterfest is the perfect example of that. It’s where people come together not just to watch, but to feel something. That’s how we do it.”

Montell and Kristin, share their secrets to a lasting love through their Marriage Masterpeace workshops.

NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL HEALTHY SKIN MONTH: PRIORITIZE YOUR SKIN HEALTH

Have you lost that loving feeling? It’s not your fault! Well, it’s not your brain or heart, but your body may not be producing the hormones that support your sex drive, ability to have sex and sexual satisfaction! As men and women enter middle age, your hormone production declines and can leave you feeling not so sexual. Declining hormones can be the culprit. Besides messing with your sexual relations, you may notice difficulty sleeping, lack of energy, loss of mental focus and memory, feeling moody, anxious, and depressed. Many people notice weight gain, decreased muscle strength, joint pain and reduced sexual desire and performance. Returning your hormone levels to what they were maybe 10-15 years ago may make you feel and look more like your more vibrant younger self!

November is National Healthy Skin Month, a great reminder for Floridians to take steps toward healthier skin. With our year-round sun exposure, maintaining proper skin care isn’t just about appearance—it’s about long-term health and protection.

A New Angle on Comfort

CITY FURNITURE’S NEW 3D CONFIGURATOR MAKES THE ART OF HOME DESIGN EASIER, SMARTER, AND MORE IMAGINATIVE THAN EVER.

room in transition carries its own kind of excitement: the promise of a space refreshed and of furniture that re ects both life and style. Yet even with inspiration in abundance, bringing that vision home can be daunting. Is the sectional too large? Will the color work in natural light? What if the layout feels o once it’s delivered?

Those questions are precisely what CITY Furniture set out to solve with its latest innovation, the 3D Cloud Sectional Con gurator. The new digital tool transforms the way customers design and buy furniture, blending technology with creativity and allowing shoppers to experiment with layouts, fabrics, and dimensions while seeing their ideas come to life in real scale, right from the screen.

and feel in their home. This tool gives them that clarity.”

Early responses have been strong. Nearly 10-percent of visitors customize a layout, averaging eight pieces per design, and about 30 -percent add their creation to the cart. Customers are spending more time exploring possibilities, combining colors and components, and making choices that feel distinctly their own.

Accessible both online and in-store, the con gurator allows users to design a custom sectional from scratch. Each piece can be added, rearranged, or removed as dimensions update instantly, o ering a true-to-life sense of scale and ow. Using WebAR OnDemand, the nished design can even be projected into a real room, providing a striking preview of how it ts within existing décor.

“Buying furniture is a big investment,” acknowledges Andrew Koenig, CEO of CITY Furniture. “People want to know how it will look

For CITY’s team, the innovation is as much about e ciency as it is about experience. Powered by 3D Cloud, the system keeps all digital assets aligned across platforms, so product updates appear simultaneously on CITY’s website and showroom displays. Whether customers are designing from their living room or collaborating with a design consultant in-person, the process is seamless and consistent. While this new digital approach doesn’t replace the human touch; it certainly enhances it. Sales associates are able to guide their clients through interactive design sessions, while online shoppers can preview their selections in context, bridging the gap between imagination and reality.

The result is a furniture-buying experience that feels personal, empowering, and surprisingly creative. As Koenig puts it, “We want to make great design simple, personal, and fun. The con gurator lets customers dream and see those dreams come to life.”

Where Precision Meets Personality

INSIDE THE WORLD OF MAYA KOLJENOVIC AND NAPOLEON ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK

n the exacting world of architectural millwork, few names carry the blend of artistry and precision that de nes Maya Koljenovic, owner of Napoleon Architectural Millwork. From New York to Fort Lauderdale, her company has earned a reputation for turning complex design visions into awlessly cra ed realities—projects that feel as alive as they look.

For Maya, woodwork isn’t just a trade; it’s a language. “I don’t think I chose this eld as much as it chose me,” she says. “It’s my way of communicating with the world.” That quiet conviction has shaped Napoleon into a rm where technology and cra smanship coexist in perfect balance—where machines cut with micron accuracy, but human intuition makes the nal call.

Precision with Personality Maya o en describes her company’s philosophy as where precision meets personality. Inside Napoleon’s state-of-the-art automated facility, computer-controlled CNC machines hum beside seasoned cra speople who still run their hands along the grain, feeling for perfection no sensor

can detect. “The magic happens when a cra sman decides a wall panel should feel a certain way or matches the grain just so,” she explains. “That’s where engineering meets emotion.”

Her team—whom she calls “the true machines behind the machines”—embodies that ethos. They approach each project with both technical mastery and humility, devising creative solutions for the architectural puzzles designers o en dream up.

“They’re the reason we can build a ten-foot-tall wall cabinet that ts through a narrow stairwell and still aligns perfectly once installed,” she says.

“They take pride in details most eyes will never notice, and that quiet pride is unmistakable.”

Collaboration Over Competition

For Koljenovic, great work begins with listening. Napoleon’s client list spans architects, designers, general contractors, and homeowners— all of whom rely on her team’s clarity and communication to bring complex visions to life.

“Every architect has a vision,” she says. “Our job is to protect it while making it buildable.”

That philosophy has earned Napoleon a reputation as a trusted partner, not just

a fabricator. “One designer once told me, ‘You make construction feel like design again,’” Maya recalls with a smile. “That’s the ultimate compliment.”

Innovation with Integrity

At Napoleon, technology is a tool—not a replacement for cra smanship. “Even the most advanced CNC machine is only as e ective as its programmer,” Maya notes. “And that programmer relies on the insight of millworkers who understand wood’s quirks and the designer’s intent.”

The result is work that merges artistry with precision. Through value engineering—a practice o en misunderstood as cost-cutting—Maya and her team nd smarter materials or assemblies that maintain beauty while reducing waste and expense. “Value engineering, done right, isn’t about compromise,” she insists. “It’s about options. We care about our clients’ budgets as much as their vision.”

Leadership Grounded in Clarity

As a founder and mother of three, Koljenovic has built her leadership style around balance—between control and trust, ambition and humility. “Micromanaging is a magnetic trap,” she admits. “You want to touch everything, but that’s not leadership—it’s interference. I’ve learned to replace control with clarity, to lead from behind rather than hover overhead.”

That clarity extends to how she motivates her team. Recognition, she says, is key. “When people feel trusted and appreciated, their motivation becomes internal—and that’s when the best work happens.”

Her drive, she explains, comes from responsibility: to her clients, her sta , and her daughters. “They remind me daily that presence is power,” she says. “Listening is as important in parenting as it is in business.”

Motherhood, she adds, made her both faster and more empathetic. “Some days I’m a rockstar at work and dinner’s pasta from a jar. Other days I’m helping with sixth-grade math and emails wait until bedtime. I’ve learned to let go of guilt—because leadership, like parenting, is never nished.”

A Craft Rooted in Purpose

Asked which project makes her proudest, Maya recalls a Palm Beach residence where walnut warmth met minimalist lines. “Every joint aligned across three oors,” she says.

“When we handed over the keys, the client said, ‘You made the house feel alive.’ That’s the kind of work that stays with you.”

Looking ahead, she wants to focus on sustainability—a natural priority for someone whose livelihood depends on trees. “We owe it to the material and to future generations,” she says. Plans are underway to expand apprenticeship programs that bring young talent into the trade and help existing team members level up their skills. “I see Napoleon as a place where people build careers, not just cabinets.”

The Woman Behind the Woodwork

When she does step away from the shop, Maya’s ideal day o is simple: “A day that turns into another day o — lled with love, ne dining, music, and maybe a new pair of shoes,” she laughs.

Her long-term goals are equally balanced between practicality and passion. “I’d like to nally build something for my own home—carbon- ber kitchen cabinets, wenge veneer bedroom set, pearl-lacquer closets. The shoemaker’s

son always goes barefoot, right?”

Her advice to women entering construction or manufacturing is as direct as her cra smanship. “Walk in prepared. Know your cra , lead with integrity, and collaborate with con dence. Mistakes will happen—but what de nes you is how you recover. Don’t let fear become the obstacle.”

For Maya Koljenovic, building is more than a business—it’s an act of trust, persistence, and artistry. And whether she’s managing a multimillion-dollar project or teaching her daughters the value of perseverance, her philosophy remains the same: you can’t give up; excellence is a moving target.

PERLA LICHI TRANSFORMS EVERY SPACE WITH BOLD VISION, VIBRANT ENERGY, AND HER SIGNATURE BELIEF THAT

alk into a room designed by Perla Lichi and you’ll feel it instantly: a kinetic energy, a sense of joy, and a fearless embrace of color and detail. For more than 40 years, the Fort Lauderdale–based interior designer has created everything from South Florida condominiums to sprawling estates and palaces abroad. Her projects span continents and cultures, yet each re ects her unmistakable touch—an exuberant blend of artistry and emotion.

Her namesake rm, Perla Lichi Design, is headquartered in Pompano Beach, where she and her team manage turnkey projects from concept to completion. Whether designing a synagogue, transforming a historic town hall into a family home, or staging a residence for sale, her vision remains the constant. “I can walk into a space and know instantly what it needs,” she says. “From the oors to the walls to the lighting to the accessories, it comes alive in my head.”

A Serendipitous Path

Perla never planned to be an interior designer. Her rst love was fashion, and she enrolled at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale to study it. Then fate intervened: she entered and won an interior design challenge during her rst year, earning a full scholarship to the design program. “It was meant to be,” she recalls. She graduated with honors in 1983, apprenticed with local rms, and by 1990 had opened her own studio in Fort Lauderdale.

Her career quickly took on an international scope. In 2009 she launched a Dubai showroom, leading to more than 75 projects across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. “I’ve sat on the oor with royal princesses selecting fabric colors for a custom rug,” she laughs, “and then own home to design a Parkland residence for a growing Florida family.” That blend of cultural uency and boundless creativity has become her signature.

Each project brings unique challenges and rewards. In Parkland, she transformed the former town hall into a multi-generational home where “the goal was harmony without sameness.” Her solution was to give each space its own personality while tying them together with color and lighting. In Wellington, she designed a castle-inspired estate that balanced history and fantasy. “It was about drama—soaring ceilings, gilded details, and rich textures—but still a home, not a museum.” Overseas, her palace projects o en demand sensitivity to tradition while integrating modern comfort. “Designing for royalty teaches you humility,” she says. “It’s not just about beauty, it’s about respect for culture.”

The Designer and the Woman

To understand Perla’s work, you have to understand Perla herself. Tall, blonde, and glamorous, she’s as well known for her personality as her portfolio. Colleagues call her “a tornado” of positive energy, a woman who lls any room with excitement. “You can’t be sad or bored around Perla,” says one client. “Everything she does is full of energy and fun.”

Her persona is part fashionista, part artist, part whirlwind. A selfproclaimed maximalist, her favorite color is purple, her closet holds more than 500 pairs of designer boots, and her wardrobe leans toward Versace and Chanel over neutrals. “Back in high school they named my style ‘The Perla Lichi Look,’” she recalls. And while she follows fashion passionately, she doesn’t follow trends in design. “I create interiors that re ect the client, not what’s trending. Each space should be timeless because it’s personal.”

Her design process begins with listening. She sketches by hand,

translating ideas into three-dimensional renderings that let clients visualize the nished rooms. A specialist in color theory, she refuses to work in beige or gray. “Color is life,” she says. “The right shade can change how you feel the moment you walk into a room.” Her process is precise but spontaneous, too—she’s known to pound a nail with her shoe if that’s what it takes. “Whatever it takes, as long as the job gets done,” she laughs.

Away from design, Perla is just as vibrant. She’s a traveler with wanderlust, jetting o to Mexico or Turkey, knitting bulky throws on long ights, and shopping local markets for fashion nds. She’s a hostess who throws themed parties lled with karaoke and laughter. And she’s a devoted matriarch—mother to three sons and grandmother to two, though never “Grandma.” She’s “Nana,” always in the middle of the fun, dancing and cavorting with her grandkids like a kid herself.

What’s Next

With more than 800 awards, seven co ee table books, and countless magazine and television features, Perla Lichi is one of South Florida’s most celebrated designers. Her books, from Beautiful Rooms to her latest, You Can’t Make This Up(2023), chronicle not just her projects but her philosophy of living with color, con dence, and joy. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and has been honored by organizations from the National Association of Home Builders to London’s Luxe et al International Design Awards.

A er four decades in design, she’s still moving at full speed. Currently, she’s working on new luxury residences, a synagogue project, and another book in progress. She also hopes to mentor younger designers, encouraging them to embrace individuality over imitation. Ask her what keeps her going, and she grins: “Life is a cabaret, my friend. I don’t want to miss a single minute of it.”

That vitality de nes both her work and her way of moving through the world. Perla Lichi is more than a designer of interiors. She’s a designer of moments, of memories, of lifestyles—and she shows no signs of slowing down.

The Next Shore Thing

SETS A NEW BENCHMARK FOR BEACHFRONT LIVING.

nce a quiet stretch between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, Pompano Beach is now one of South Florida’s most ambitious coastal transformations. In the past decade, billions in public and private investment have reshaped its waterfront—replacing weathered motels and bait shops with luxury towers, chef-driven restaurants, and a vibrant pier village alive with energy and design.

“Pompano Beach is undergoing one of the most dynamic transformations in South Florida, fueled by billions in public and private investment,” said Isaac Toledano, Founder of BH Group. “The W Pompano Beach penthouses are a re ection of the city’s evolution into a premier luxury destination, o ering residents a front-row seat to this extraordinary moment of growth.”

From Solemar to Casamar, a striking new skyline has emerged. Now, that evolution reaches its boldest expression with W Pompano Beach Hotel & Residences—a collaboration between Related Group, BH Group, and Marriott International. Rising 24 stories above the Atlantic, the project introduces the global energy of the W brand to the city’s shoreline, blending hotel vibrancy with residential exclusivity and rede ning what it means to live by the water.

“This is a rare opportunity to own in Pompano Beach as it emerges as South Florida’s next premier beachfront destination,” says Nick Perez, President of Related Group’s Condominium Development Group.

This summer’s unveiling of the penthouse collection set a new tone for Pompano’s luxury market. Each of the nine bespoke residences is envisioned as a private sanctuary in the sky—combining architectural ambition with the sophistication and service synonymous with W Hotels. Expansive terraces extend outward like open-air living rooms, while the Premier Penthouses will feature roo op pools, summer kitchens, and climate-controlled lounges designed for seamless coastal living.

“These penthouses are private sanctuaries that blend architectural

excellence with the sophistication and prestige of the W brand,” said Toledano. “For buyers, this is an unparalleled opportunity to own a true coastal retreat, complete with ve-star services and a level of scale and re nement that is unmatched across South Florida’s beachfront.”

Beyond the residences, the W lifestyle experience promises to reshape expectations for oceanfront living. Plans include a 60,000-square-foot WET Deck with cabanas, pools, and pickleball courts; a Living Room social hub for art, music, and mixology; a FIT tness center; and an AWAY Spa that turns wellness into a daily ritual. A speakeasy-style lounge will bring an air of exclusivity to evenings by the sea, extending W’s signature sense of discovery to Pompano’s coast.

“Only W Hotels, one of the industry’s most innovative hospitality brands, can deliver this blend of luxury, lifestyle, and service,” adds Toledano. “This comes at a pivotal moment as Pompano Beach, fueled by billions in recent investment, rapidly emerges as South Florida’s next luxury hotspot.”

The project’s design team brings global pedigree and coastal sensitivity. Nichols Architects and KORA are behind the building’s sculptural form, Meyer Davis brings a re ned, contemporary warmth to the interiors, and Enea infuses lush landscaping throughout terraces and open-air lounges. Together, they’ve envisioned a modern landmark that celebrates both elegance and the energy of its surroundings.

Related Group and BH Group are leading the development in partnership with Marriott International, with Fortune International Realty managing sales and marketing. Construction is slated to begin in 2026, with completion expected by late 2029.

Even before breaking ground, W Pompano Beach Hotel & Residences stands as a de ning symbol of the city’s renaissance—a project that embodies Pompano’s ascent into the ranks of South Florida’s premier coastal destinations and signals a new chapter in the region’s story of design, hospitality, and modern luxury.

DOUGLAS ELLIMAN

Erica.Stowers@elliman.com

What’s the one piece of advice you give to clients about making their home stand out in the competitive market?

In South Florida’s competitive market, the homes that sell fastest—and for the highest price—are the ones that create an immediate emotional connection. My advice: make your home unforgettable from the very rst impression. That means manicured curb and waterfront appeal, light- lled and decluttered interiors, and professional staging that highlights the lifestyle— whether it’s boating, entertaining, or relaxing by the pool. We’re not just selling a property; we’re selling the South Florida lifestyle— and that’s what truly makes your home stand out.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about buying or selling real estate in South Florida?

The biggest misconception about real estate in South Florida is that it’s only about the property itself. In reality, value is driven just as much by lifestyle, location, and timing. Buyers aren’t simply purchasing a house—they’re investing in boating access, proximity to the beach, vibrant neighborhoods, and the year-round lifestyle that comes with it. For sellers, success depends on how well the home is presented and marketed. That’s why it’s crucial to hire a luxury real estate specialist who understands how to position your property. In South Florida, it’s never just a transaction—it’s about selling a lifestyle.

What sets you apart from other realtors in the South Florida luxury market?

What sets me apart is more than 20 years of proven success in the South Florida real estate market—built almost entirely on referrals. I bring unmatched knowledge of our waterfront communities, paired with strong national and international reach through Douglas Elliman, LuxuryRealEstate.com, and my extensive New York network. I personally invest thousands of dollars into each listing to ensure it stands out, and clients know me as hardworking, persistent, honest, and a skilled negotiator. Beyond real estate, my philanthropic presence keeps me connected to the community, and my commitment to continually reinventing and elevating my business is why I’m trusted to represent multi-milliondollar properties year a er year.

What’s one piece of advice you give to clients about making their home stand out in the competitive South Florida market?

In South Florida, buyers aren’t just purchasing a home—they’re embracing a lifestyle. I spotlight the elements that de ne relaxed luxury here: natural light, seamless indoor-outdoor living, and waterfront beauty. By presenting these features strategically, your home stands out in a competitive market and creates an emotional connection buyers remember.

What sets you apart from other realtors in the region? What unique skills or qualities do you bring to your clients?

What sets TrigliaKnight apart is a legacy of more than 49 years in South Florida luxury real estate, paired with modern strategy and proven results. Clients trust us for our integrity, market expertise, and straightforward advice—always telling them what they need

to hear, not just what they want. With innovative marketing and a personalized approach, we ensure every transaction is seamless, successful, and built on lasting trust.

What do you predict for the future of the South Florida real estate market over the next few years?

South Florida’s luxury and waterfront markets remain resilient, though price appreciation is expected to moderate with increased new construction. Older condominiums will face higher assessments, insurance costs, and repairs, so ening values as inventory and days on market rise. Financing should begin to ease in the coming year, while buyers grow more selective—seeking unique features, hurricane-ready construction, lifestyle appeal, and turnkey properties.

What sets you apart from other realtors in the region? What unique skills or qualities do you bring to your clients?

What sets me apart from other realtors is my competitive nature, mastery of the psychology of the sale, and skill as a negotiator. My expertise in the nance and mortgage industry allows me to evaluate not only the beauty of a property but also its long-term investment potential. As a newcomer to the real estate industry, I’ve successfully negotiated and closed $10 million in high-pro le deals for professional athletes and executives within my rst six months. My clients trust me for discretion, precision, and the ability to simplify complex transactions.

Can you share a recent success story where you helped a client nd their dream home or sell a property? What made that experience memorable?

One of my most memorable success stories involved a buyer interested in my listing who needed to sell their home rst. The seller also needed to close quickly so they could purchase their dream home. I represented both sides, negotiated a contingent o er, and sold the buyer’s home within 24 hours—allowing both transactions to close seamlessly. It was a perfectly timed win for everyone, truly a clutch moment.

What do you predict for the future of the South Florida real estate market over the next few years?

I predict South Florida will remain one of the most desirable real estate markets in the country, with steady and sustainable growth ahead. Clients and investors will need to be more strategic and value-conscious. Success will come to those who combine local market insight with the ability to analyze economic trends and leverage data in every transaction.

NAPOLEON ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK

New York - Fort Lauderdale 954-909-0432 | napoleonmillwork.com

What distinguishes Napoleon Millwork from the competition?

Our distinction lies in the way precision meets personality. We operate a state-of-the-art automated woodworking facility, yet our process never loses its human touch. We understand the power of collaboration and partnering with designers, architects, general contractors, and private clients to transform visionary concepts into cra ed realities. Our value engineering and proactive communication turn complexity into clarity, helping protect client investments while maintaining design integrity.

What is your company’s greatest strength or asset?

My team. Machines provide accuracy, but it’s Napoleon team that brings excellence. They treat clients’ future spaces, quality and schedule as carefully as joinery. They are the true machines behind the machines, de ned by ethics, trust and cra smanship. And yes — they’ll probably all ask for a raise a er they read this.

What is your burning desire?

To keep building — not just projects, but relationships and trust. I want to be present on the oor, not behind the glass door. I have an unshakable belief in perseverance — that you can’t give up, no matter how complex the challenge or how tight the schedule. There’s an ego in that drive, sure, but there’s also humility — the kind that comes from knowing excellence is a moving target. And on a personal note, if I could stretch time, I’d de nitely use it to spend more hours each day with my three incredible daughters.

Can you recognize any of your weaknesses as strengths — or habits you try to avoid in business?

Micromanaging. It’s a magnetic trap for any leader who cares deeply. You want to touch every part of the process, but that’s not leadership — it’s interference. I’ve learned to replace control with clarity; to move from micromanagement to preemptive management. Great leadership means standing behind your team, not hovering over them.

The future of Fort Lauderdale Real Estate is even higher demand. Fort Lauderdale is one of the few places in America where you can live in a true waterfront paradise without sacri cing urban sophistication. Fort Lauderdale is genuinely the Venice of America, a place where you can dock your boat for breakfast and later walk to a Michelin restaurant for dinner. As demand surges, a ordability has become our biggest bottleneck, but that doesn’t mean the only solution is more condominium towers and exploiting the live local act. “Balance” needs to be in the forefront of our local decision maker’s minds to ensure that Fort Lauderdale balances a ordability for re ghters, teachers, young professionals, and rst-time entrepreneurs, but most importantly the preservation of the Venice of America. Fort Lauderdale doesn’t have to choose between being luxurious and being livable, but we do need to be intentional. A ordability isn’t just an economic issue, it’s a cultural preservation strategy.

What’s one piece of advice you give to clients about making their home stand out in the competitive South Florida market?

Play to your strengths and know your market. South Florida is still hot—but this isn’t the COVID-era frenzy anymore. Today, you need an agent who will work your listing, not just watch it. A true professional isn’t just a transaction facilitator, they’re a transaction curator. Their focus should be on the result, not on stacking listings like trading cards.

And that’s a problem I see too o en in this market: agents collecting listings instead of moving them. If your property is just another notch in someone’s inventory, that should concern you. You don’t hire a realtor to hold your listing, you hire one to sell it. Imagine a doctor booking triple the number of patients in a day, someone ends up waiting too long, rushed through, or overlooked entirely. Care su ers when volume outruns capacity.

Another thing sellers forget don’t be afraid to sign a shorter listing agreement. You should be able to change quarterbacks before your listing goes stale. If the strategy isn’t working, you shouldn’t be stuck riding it into the ground. Protect your asset, protect your leverage, and make sure the person representing you is actually in motion, not just on the roster.

What sets you apart from other realtors in the region?

At Ryan Critch Real Estate, we’re marketing experts who just happen to hold real estate licenses. We know that a seller’s success depends on one thing: buyer demand. While many stop at professional photos and a MLS listing, we cra dynamic global marketing campaigns that captivate attention and create competition. Our listings don’t just enter the market; they dominate it.

Can you share a recent success story?

In the prestigious Sterling Ranch community, our team set a new benchmark by achieving the highest recorded sale price in the neighborhood. The impact was immediate. Another homeowner, whose property had sat on the MLS for more than a year without a single o er, reached out a er seeing our results. Within eight days

of launching our global marketing campaign, their home attracted an international cash buyer and closed three weeks later. Same house. Same MLS. Completely di erent outcome. The only di erence was our marketing—strategic, intentional, and proven to deliver results.

Biggest misconception about South Florida real estate?

One of the biggest misconceptions is that all realtors are the same simply because they hold a license. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. In a fast-moving market where buyers have endless options, selling a home has become a complex, highstakes process lled with details that can make or break a deal. By combining innovative marketing with unmatched professionalism, Ryan Critch Real Estate continues to rede ne luxury property success, proving that in South Florida, excellence isn’t just about selling homes; it’s about mastering the art of demand.

A Family Heals Together, Gives Back Together

Joe Lubeck’s connection to Cleveland Clinic began years ago when his father needed complex surgery, and the best place to get it was Cleveland Clinic. Joe’s father underwent a major cardiac procedure and went on to live another 23 healthy years. Years later, Joe himself began experiencing heart complications. After multiple stents and worsening symptoms, Joe once again turned to Cleveland Clinic.

Today, Joe is grateful—not just for his recovery, but for the opportunity to give back. His family established a first-of-its-kind program to deepen clinical exchange and expertise between Cleveland Clinic’s Ohio and Florida cardiac teams. “They saved my life,” he says. “This is my way of making sure others have access to that same level of care.”

THIS THANKSGIVING, A PUBLICIST’S GUIDE TO GRATITUDE

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. There’s no pressure to buy the perfect gift, it’s just a chance to slow down, share a meal with family, and focus on what (and who) really matters.

As a publicist, my job is all about connecting people: telling their stories, celebrating their milestones, and helping them shine. Over the years,

Finally, focus on connection, not perfection! In my world, there’s no such thing as a flawless campaign — only great stories told with heart. Your Thanksgiving doesn’t need to be Pinterest-perfect to be memorable. Burnt rolls, mismatched napkins, and last-minute guests often make for the best stories later. Trust me, I would know!

I’ve realized that the same principles that make a great PR campaign also make for pulling off a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Here’s what I’m thinking: First, say thank you often and out loud. In PR, we literally cannot do our jobs alone. We depend on our networks, and we never take a journalist, a client, or a partner for granted. A heartfelt “thank you” is our most powerful tool. It may sound cheesy, but this year, I challenge you to really, genuinely thank the people around your Thanksgiving table. Thank them for coming, and for how they have shown up for you throughout the year.

Second, shine a light on others. Publicists are professional cheerleaders. We love bragging about our clients’ wins! Take that same spirit home — celebrate your spouse’s hard work, your kids’ little victories, your friends’ new adventures. Gratitude grows when it’s shared.

This year, as you pass the stuffing, think like a publicist: notice the good, actually talk about it, and make someone else feel like the star of the

show. And gratitude can be so much more than a holiday tradition; it can become a practice, a way of life that strengthens relationships and turns everyday moments into something worth celebrating.

Happy Thanksgiving.

2025 POSTER ARTIST ROMERO BRITTO

Britto as its official poster artist – a perfect match of holiday cheer and artistic exuberance. Already named CoGrand Marshal alongside Montell Jordan, Britto lends not only his fame but also his signature style to this year’s celebration.  His vibrant designs will appear across brochures, shirts, digital media, and even the Grand Marshal’s showboat decor, turning the parade into a living canvas.

Born in Brazil in 1963, Britto built his career on bright colors, bold patterns, and an underlying message of hope.  Over time, he has drawn influence from pop art, cubism, and street styles, fusing them into a “happy art” aesthetic that resonates around the globe.  His pieces often feel like bursts of joy–which makes him an inspired choice to encapsulate the holiday spirit on water.

For Winterfest 2025, Britto was tasked not just with designing a poster, but with manifesting the festival’s energy in visual form. He takes on this challenge by weaving in festive elements— twinkling lights, waves, ornaments, shimmering reflections— while staying true to his colorful, high-contrast signature. His art will serve as both emblem and atmosphere, helping to elevate each parade float into part of one grand, unified display.

Be part of the judging team – along with community leaders –and help crown this year’s People’s Choice winner!

Official Rules: winterfestparade.com/peoples-choice-award

Beyond his work for Winterfest, Britto carries a legacy of global impact: his art has graced public spaces, brands, and exhibitions in more than 120 countries, and he's considered among the most collected and licensed artists alive. In 2025, he brings that legacy home—at the intersection of community, creativity, and celebration— ensuring that the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade won’t just be viewed but felt in color.

THE VOTES ARE IN! WINTERFEST® FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES

2025 JR. CAPTAIN: SYDNEY SALAS

The Winterfest® Foundation proudly announces 13-year-old Sydney Salas, representing Chiari’s Little Warriors, as the 2025 Winterfest® Jr. Captain. This inspiring program – powered by FPL and moved by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK –celebrates young leaders who embody courage, compassion, and community spirit.

Born with Chiari Malformation, a condition in which part of the brain extends into the spinal canal, Sydney has faced unique challenges including headaches, dizziness, balance issues, and spinal curvature. Instead of letting her diagnosis define her, Sydney turned her experience into purpose. She founded Chiari’s Little Warriors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children living with Chiari Malformation and raising awareness through education and outreach. Each September, her organization hosts a walk that brings families together to share stories, build connections, and remind one another that they are not alone.

WINTERFEST®

The Winterfest® Jr. Captain Program was established in honor of 15-year-old Amanda Blake, who courageously battled osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Introduced to Winterfest® through the Wasie Foundation and the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation, Amanda’s strength and spirit left a lasting mark on all who met her –including Jen Klaassens (former Wasie Foundation representative), Lisa Scott-Founds (President & CEO of Winterfest®), and Dawn Diehl (Winterfest® Event Director). Amanda’s legacy continues as Winterfest® honors a child annually with the title of Winterfest® Jr. Captain.

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Jr. Captain Program – a legacy that continues to honor extraordinary young individuals like Sydney. Through this tradition, Winterfest® celebrates resilience, hope, and the enduring power of community as we prepare to welcome Sydney aboard as the 2025 Jr. Captain of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Boat Parade.

PRESENTED BY

The GrayRobinson, P.A. Winterfest® Launch Party, held on October 25, 2025, at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, brought guests aboard for a night of nautical glitz and smooth Yacht Rock vibes as Winterfest officially kicked off the 2025 season.

The evening began highlighting the excitement of the upcoming Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Boat Parade, followed by a special message and video from this year’s Grand Marshals. Guests applauded the unveiling of this year’s vibrant commemorative poster and cover of Riverwalk by Romero Britto, setting the tone for a season filled with sparkle and celebration.

Culinary delights from our featured restaurant Casa Calabria along with  3030 Ocean, Eddie V’s, Green Cheetah Catering, Mimi’s Ravioli, Ocean Prime,  Sea Level, Tower Club, and Truluck’s gave the event a true taste of South Florida, while Republic National Distributing Company poured signature cocktails featuring Deep Eddy Vodka, 1800 Tequila,, J.F. Haden’s Liqueur, Stella Artois, and refreshing LaCroix mocktails.

Entertainment kept the Yacht Rock rhythm alive all night with MC Drew from Y-100, celebrity Captain Lee, and special performances throughout the night by Furious 5 sponsored by Ocean Manor Resort. Guests danced the night away surrounded by lasers, cold sparkles, and a burst of confetti — a visual reflection of Winterfest’s signature energy.

Guests also sparkled thanks to Carroll’s Jewelers’ Bling Bar, and snapped memories with Great Healthworks and Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi photo stations. The evening was led by Event Chairwoman Alyssa Lovitt of I LOV-ITT Consulting Robyn Vines of GrayRobinson, Winterfest® President & CEO Lisa Scott-Founds, and Event Director, Dawn Diehl, who together toasted the start of another magical Winterfest season. Event highlights were captured by WSVN Channel 7, ABC-Miami, and EyeOnSouthFlorida.

Final

Interior designer Heidi Pettee on the trends shaping how we live, relax, and reconnect.

What design trends are defining 2026?

My clients are gravitating toward deeper, richer, warmer, and more layered interiors. There’s a real desire for collections, for integrating a mood, and for rejecting that all-gray-and-white modern box. It’s about living thoughtfully and tastefully based on your personal taste. Architecturally, I’m seeing more detail—molding, cased openings, and warm woods—subtle elements that replace the façade of cool minimalism.

How have homeowner priorities evolved?

Everyone wants smart-home details, a dedicated space for health and wellness, and attention to detail when it comes to storage and organization. I love to add quiet spaces, window nooks, or libraries— places to escape from the kitchen or family room. Outdoor spaces are just as important. I can’t design the inside without addressing the outside; they have to flow together.

What’s the key to blending indoor and outdoor living?

Match the interior to the exterior flooring material if it’s porcelain, or contrast a warm-toned wood inside with a bisque-colored porcelain outside. The flow of color and tone is key to making the spaces feel connected. I always start with a mood board so clients can visualize how everything aligns.

Which colors and materials are trending now?

Warm tones are making their way back as the cool minimalist “griege” is on its way out. You’ll see it in flooring, exteriors, and wall color. There’s something about rich, earthy hues that make a space feel timeless again.

What’s your lighting philosophy?

Layer your lighting. Start with downlighting on a dimmer in the 3000–4000K range, then add lamps, sconces, and other decorative lighting at a warmer tone. It creates subtlety, balance, and mood.

How can someone refresh a home without renovating?

Spray your kitchen cabinets, declutter every room, refresh rugs, move furniture around, and change all the light bulbs to the same color. Reframe and rehang artwork—it’s one of the simplest ways to completely change a room.

How can homeowners achieve a designer look on a budget?

Start with a really good set of plans, even if you draw them yourself. Make lists, use Pinterest, and create a mood board. There’s never been a better time to find visual inspiration. Learn how to use Google Lens on your phone—it’s great for finding affordable versions of high-end pieces.

What will define the next era of design?

Health and wellness. I just completed a project centered entirely on that idea—room by room with reminders of nature, calmness, and warmth. Think greens, bisque tones, warm woods, saunas, steam, and a dedicated relaxation room. People are realizing their home should restore and renew them.
