bazie Wojskowego Centrum Wyszkolenia Medycznego nakazywał utworzenie od 1 lipca 1958 roku Wojskowej Akademii Medycznej. Pierwszym Komendantem – Rektorem WAM został gen. bryg. prof. dr hab. med. Marian Garlicki. Pierwszym Komendantem – Dziekanem Wydziału Lekarskiego został płk prof. dr hab. med. Bolesław Gwóźdź. W skład Uczelni weszły WCWM, Centralny Wojskowy Szpital Kliniczny w Łodzi, Centralny Szpital MON w Warszawie i Ośrodek Szkolenia Oficerów Rezerwy w Przemyślu. Do głównych zadań nowopowstałej Uczelni należało podejmowanie działań:

The Military Medical Academy comprised the Military Centre of Medical Education, the Central Military Clinical Hospital in Lodz, the Central Hospital of the Ministry of National Defence in Warsaw, and the Centre of Reserve Officers’ Education in Przemyśl. The main objectives of the newly-formed academy were as follows:
