New Concessions and Facilities Coming to Prescott Park

Key members from the City of Portsmouth, Prescott Park Arts Festival Board of Directors and the Capital Campaign Committee stand in front of what remains of the old concessions building in Prescott Park.

PORTSMOUTH Prescott Park Arts Festival has finalized a partnership agreement with the City of Portsmouth to begin construction of a new concessions and public bathroom facility. The agreement provides for $200,000 in funding supplied by the city along with project management support for the demolition, while Prescott Park Arts Festival will make a financial contribution of $1.1 million raised from individual donations and grants. “The relationship between The City of Portsmouth and Prescott Park Arts Festival is

often misunderstood; we are separate entities – the Festival operates on City property but is financially independent,” explains Ben Anderson, Executive Director of Prescott Park Arts Festival. “We appreciate their commitment and support as we continue to invest in the park and make necessary capital improvements and safety upgrades.” With approximately $700,000 dollars in private donations raised including $100,000 in tax credits purchased by local businesses, Prescott Park Arts Festival is entering the final phase of its capital campaign. Capital campaign Co-

Chair, Sean Mahoney explains, “We still have some critical funds to raise – especially to meet a very generous challenge grant from The Thomas W Haas Fund of the New Hamphire Charitable Foundation. We need to raise an additional $100,000 before the new year, to meet the challenge and stay on track to complete the campaign by March 31.” The Campaign will fund the construction of a new Pavilion building that will house an updated concession area and more public bathrooms.
