A word from Catherine Spring promises new growth and endless possibilities. I am so inspired by coastal homeowners who have given much thought and consideration on how changes in their home can bring them closer to living their dream. Each idea is different yet well considered to help live a more balanced, healthy and complete coastal life.

Our Spring 2021 issue is dedicated to helping coastal homeowners tackle home projects no matter the size as they prepare for the upcoming summer season..

Spring is the ideal time to prepare and begin projects to make your home a better place to enjoy.

Let's Get Your Project Going We start at the beginning....

MAKE A WISH LIST

Yes, let loose and go around your home inside and out listing all the areas you would like to tackle one day. It's perfectly fine to dream big. Easy right? Now you have a snapshot of what your plan might include today and in the future.

THE GUIDE Check off the most important projects for the season on your wish list.

PICTURE IT! Take photos of the space for reference Add measurements of key pieces

DATE TIME What is the most convenient time FOR YOU? What would cause the least amount of interruption to you and your family?

Identify the ideal time to start and finish so you are well prepared.

BUDGET TIME Determine the amount that is the max you will be willing to invest in your projects.

Set aside 10-15% of that amount for a reserve. Yes, things can come up that are unexpected.

MASTER THE MATERIALS Research material costs by shopping at your local suppliers and finding online resources.

Delivery and cost will have a large impact on the project so take your time and review choices frequently .

CALL FOR THE PROS Larger projects will involve outside help in most cases.

Interview at least 2 pros and check references.

Request estimates in writing and review them. Ask questions!!!!

Require a written contract from the professional you hire.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING

On areas that you cannot complete without hired experts, nail down the start, duration and completion dates before you proceed.

TIP: Add 2 weeks to the estimate for unexpected delays

ORDER TIME Complete contracts and order materials prior to the start so you have no delivery or damage delays.

As work is near completion, prepare a punch list of outstanding items. It's important to keep your sight on 100% completion.

Have patience, the end is in sight and you will be enjoying the BEAUTIFUL results that you deserve.

Beach Beauty

After years of searching for the perfect vacation home, our clients, a European family found this beautiful gem. It sits directly on the water with views from the back (shown here) that are magical.

The home had a relatively open floor plan with beadboard walls in the dining and living room. To keep the original style but infuse a modern twist, simple but intentional touches were added.
