JUNCTION
2601 Victory Ave, Suite 300 Dallas, TX 75201
Concept Statement
NEXT Junction is designed off of the concept of an informational highway, not dissimilar to the somewhat infamous Texan highways. These roads of ideas and creativity will be expressed through ceiling and floor elements that wind and weave throughout the space, carving out pockets of space and serving as continuous way-finding. The open workstations intermixed with private offices and open huddle rooms serving as solid touch points encourage the development and use of networks of communication that are integral to NEXT as a firm.
The color scheme is based on the deep blue of the Texas State flag, which represents bravery. The yellow is from the highway stripe colors. The deep brown wood veneer serve to bring warmth to the soft blue upholstery and dark carpeting throughout the space.

Internship Group Project
This project was a design challenge which tasked the team of 6 interns with developing the building and surrounding site to attract more activity and foot traffic to the south end of the Wharf.
The shell of this project is an existing building on the Wharf at 610 Water Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20024. The provided program required that the first level be a Michelin star restaurant and the second floor be a 50/50 split of co-working space and building amenities. The space given is ~ 7,400 sq ft in total.
I worked with two other Interior Design interns and 3 Architecture interns. Each Interior Intern focused on one third of the major programming, while the 3 Architecture Interns; Daniel Lutze, Etana Sesay, and Gabbi Stewart; worked to develop the building envelope and design the landscape and circulation around the building. I designed the Co-working space on the second level, while Christina van Meter and Joy Cathey designed the Amenities space and Restaurant space respectively.
Drawing made by Daniel Lutze & Etana Sesay
Design Intent & Narrative
FROM EXTERIOR TO INTERIOR
Waves erode rock by abrasions. As a wave comes to shallow water it picks up sediment. Once the wave crashes against land the sediment wears the rock down.
The active architectural waves crash upon the exterior facade and pierce into the interior space. The fluid movement of the waves point towards the entrance and draw the user’s eyes into the interior.
As the user enters the interior, the space is eroded by abrasions formulated from the active architectural waves. The abrasions immerse the users in a calming and interactive environment.
Through streamlined pathways and encompassing interior elements the user is invited to immerse themselves in the calm moments after a wave.

A Concentrated Center of Knowledge and Skill-Building
Libraries are a collections and archive of knowledge and other resources, a modern library needs to provide more than just literary based resources. The modern day library must encourage exploration and creativity , as well as provide access to resources as was originally intended.
The maker space will be the focal point of the space, taking up the mezzanine and the space underneath it. This space will take up the back of the building, with transparent barriers to put the space on display . The main space directly outside the maker space being open and flexible for any type of collaboration or general use. The more traditional library spaces will be enclosed in the west side of the building to provide users with a calm and quiet area to work and read. The rest of the building will house the maker space and any spillover or extensions of it, allowing for open exploration and creative use
This space will have interactive displays, technology and art spotlights , programs that teach users new skills, and provide users with opportunities to be creative and gain new experiences.

Personal Work
One of my greatest passions in my personal life is illustration and digital art. I’ve been teaching myself to draw since 2012 and it is a skill I am constantly trying to grow and improve on my own.
Developing my art has allowed me to have a better understanding of color theory, lighting, composition, narrative choice, and rendering methods.
The following works were created from 2020-2023.
Commission for a Character Design (2023)
Commission of a original character (2023)
Commission for a logo for a student film (2022)
