Bishop Oscar E. Brown is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. He is the 6th child of the late Deacon Ulysses and the late Deaconess Hallie Mae Brown. His Christian foundation was formed at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Baltimore under the pastorate of the late Reverend Arthur J. Benn. It was at Mt. Moriah that Oscar Brown received and accepted his calling to the preaching ministry. He later moved his membership to the New Psalmist Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Walter Scott Thomas, and on September 28, 1986, he was ordained into the preaching ministry. Then, Reverend Oscar E. Brown was called to pastor the First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church. “Determined to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth.” In April 1995, Reverend Brown was led to join the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Conference under the leadership of Presiding Prelate; Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. It was at this session that Reverend Brown was appointed Conference Overseer for the State of Maryland. Overseer Brown was appointed by Bishop Morton to the Office of Bishop-Elect in July, 1996, and on November 21, 1996, Bishop-Elect Brown was consecrated to the Office of Bishop at the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship's "Changing A Generation” Enrichment Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Bishop Brown has held several positions within the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship; presently serving as the First Assistant to the Presiding Bishop, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., and he serves on the Executive Council. Yet, with all of his appointments, Bishop Brown remains a humble and submissive servant of God. Under God's anointing, First Mt. Olive's membership has increased from about 500 members to more than 2,500 members under Bishop Brown’s leadership. His pastorship has been fruitful and spiritually rewarding. Bishop Brown's dynamic and spirit-lead leadership has birthed at least twenty-three (23) additional lifechanging ministries throughout First Mt. Olive's history. “He who finds a wife, Finds a good thing.” Bishop Brown is married to the former Jacqueline Boyd of Baltimore, Maryland. He describes his wife as a major inspiration to him and the Church. They are the proud parents of two lovely daughters, Breahna Simone and Victoria Elise. Bishop Brown’s love and concern for mankind, along with his obedience, dedication and commitment to the ministry allow him to preach under the strong anointing of God. He humbly thanks God for blessing him and for giving him the opportunity as under-shepherd of First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church; teaching, empowering and helping to win souls for the Kingdom of God. Bishop Oscar E. Brown is “Determined to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth.” 12 September September2016 2016||Grace&Glory Grace&Glory 12
