Born in 1945, James Freeman began writing poems before he even knew what poetry was. After majoring in English and Creative Writing at Stanford in the '60s, he chose a career in music. Some of the song lyrics he penned, included in this anthology, served as his only writing outlet. Freeman was also a child prodigy in visual arts, though he viewed painting mainly as a form of relaxation.
