Jesus’ Last Words 7 – Wait, Receive, Witness Grace Lutheran Bible Study 1. Ever see someone for the last time but you didn’t realize it? If you’d have known it was the last time you’d see them, would you have said anything different to them?

2. Today we’ll consider some things Jesus and his followers said to each other right before a massive shift in the way that Jesus would choose to interact with them.

Acts 1:1-3 I wrote my first book, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began doing and teaching 2 until the day he was taken up, after he had given instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After he had suffered, he presented himself alive to the apostles with many convincing proofs. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and told them things about the kingdom of God. 3. Luke is the author of Acts, as well as the book of Luke. He states to Theophilis that he wrote about everything Jesus began doing and teaching. Why not say, “everything Jesus did and taught”? Wasn’t Jesus basically done doing and teaching by this point in Luke’s telling of the story?

4. Jesus decided that there’d be 40 days between his resurrection and what we often call his ascension. What was he up to during those 40 days?
