Kay Campbell Scholarship Recipients

Grace Health has the privilege of awarding the Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship to a student in each of its six service areas counties in Southeastern Kentucky. The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors pursuing a career in nursing or a medical-related field. Recipients are chosen on a competitive basis of high academics, community service, leadership, and promise of future contributions, preferably to the nursing profession. We are proud to introduce you to the 2022 Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship winners:

Bell County Recipient: Rachel Runions

Clay County Recipient: Terry Holland

Laurel County Recipient: Gabrielle Poynter

Leslie County Recipient: Jeffrey D. Brock, II

Knox County Recipient: Madison Fields

Whitley County Recipient: Summer Rains

Jeffrey D. Brock II

Jeffrey D. Brock, II of Sizerock is the son of Jeff and Pamela Brock and a graduate of Leslie County High School. He will attend HCTCS this fall and later, Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) to obtain a degree in psychology prior to attending medical school.

An honor student, Jeffrey was active in HOSA, National Honor Society, Future Problem-Solving and Community Problem-Solving teams, his church, and community organizations during high school.

He chose a career in medicine because of his desire to makea difference in the lives of his community by providingquality healthcare.

Madison Fields

Madison Fields of Barbourville is the daughter of Tonya Fields and a graduate of Barbourville High School. She will attend Lincoln Memorial University where she plans to obtain an RN- BSN.

An honor student, Madison was active in Beta Club, Future Problem-Solving, Academic Team, Varsity Cheer, church, and community organizations during high school.

She chose a career in nursing because of her desire to make a. positive difference in the lives of others in her community.

Terry Holland

Terry Holland of Manchester is the son of Terry Lee Holland and Brittany Diane Smith Wagers and a graduate of Clay County High School. He will attend EKU to pursue a nursing degree.

An honor student, Terry was active in church and community organizations during high school.

He chose a career in nursing because of his desire to become a bigger part of his community through healthcare.

Gabrielle Poynter

Gabrielle Poynter of London, KY is the daughter of Greg and Misty Poynter and a graduate of North Laurel High School. She will attend Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) this fall to pursue a nursing degree.

An honor student, Gabrielle was a community volunteer, a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar participant, and a member of HOSA, FFA, National Honors Society, and 1st Priority during high school.

She chose a career in nursing because of her desire to bring change and advocate for adequate affordable healthcare.

Summer Rains

Summer Rains of Corbin, KY is the daughter of Allen and Shawnda Rains and a graduate of Corbin High School. She will attend the University of the Cumberlands this fall where she plans to obtain a degree in nursing.

An honor and Biomed pathway student, Summer was active in Beta Club, sports, dance, and her church during high school.

She chose a career in nursing because of her desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others by serving her community through healthcare.

Rachel Runions

Rachel Runions of Pineville, KY, is the daughter of Kevin and Mary Runions and a graduate of Bell County High School. She will attend EKU this fall to pursue her medical field career studies.

An honor student, Rachel was active in Beta Club, Science Olympiad, Varsity Cheer, her local church, and community activities during high school.

She chose a career in medicine because she believes she has a God-called opportunity to provide care to those who need it.
