At Grace Health, we strive every day to live out our mission to share the love of Jesus Christ with southeastern Kentucky. In this edition, we invite you to sit down with Dr. Fields as she shares her journey to faith-centered, compassionate health care and how she is fulfilling her calling from God.

As a young married woman, Dr. Fields and her husband were quite involved with worship music, both in the church and as traveling worship leaders. In sharing the love of Christ through music, they felt they were fulfilling what God had called them to do. However, Kayla began dental school during this time. With its many demands of endless studying and long hours in the lab, Kayla felt pulled away from continued traveling and leading others in song.

Throughout dental school, Kayla pondered in her heart if becoming a dentist was the right decision. She and her husband felt a calling in their lives to share the truth of Jesus, which dental school made hard to follow. Despite the doubts, Dr. Fields was determined to follow the path she trusted God had laid for her. With the knowledge that God held her secure, she remained steady through graduation, starting her dental career, and bringing three beautiful kids into the world.

Grace Health became an integral part of her story when she signed with the organization in February 2022. When she joined the Grace Health team, Dr. Fields could clearly see that Jesus Christ was not only in their mission but also their foundation. When introduced to her work area, the Hyden Clinic in Leslie County, Kayla was confident that God had used her experience, knowledge, and education to serve a special community she was born and raised in.

Leslie County, an area filled with toddlers, seniors, and all those between, has been without local dental options. Through her work with Grace Health, Dr. Fields will be able to provide compassionate, comprehensive dental care and meet the need of an underserved population. Kayla gives God all the glory for guiding her path to Grace Health and the Hyden Clinic. Feeling great purpose in her profession, Kayla's past doubts have been replaced with great joy and peace as she continues to walk in God's calling on her life.
