You know those places that you see them in pictures and think: why am I not there now?” or “I will be there on my next vacation”. This is what being in Turks and Caicos feels like. The British island chain, consisted of 40 islands located in the Caribbean Sea, is popular among stars. The stunning white-sanded beaches crossed by turquoisecolored sea, one of the most crystalline ones in the world, tease an endless list of vip tourists. Some even settled down in the island, and built luxurious mansions, like Rolling Stones member Keith Richards, the movie star Bruce Willis and TV presenter Oprah Winfrey. Others chose the location to run away from the spotlight and rest. That is what movie star Brad Pitt did as he was getting divorced of Angeline Jolie. He spent the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday in Amanyara Villas Resort, the favorite of stars. Besides becoming more popular because of massive amounts celebrities visiting it, the region has a major attraction: an airplane trip to Miami lasts only 90 minutes – there are not stopovers there, so an American visa is required, although not needed in the island chain. Just by peeking through the window you understand why the place is considered as an Eden by visitors, where the bluest sea on the earth can be found. The daylight in the island is beautiful, the skies are clear 320 days a year, and the average temperature is 28ºC.

Nowadays, the island chain is considered a British overseas territory, but the small 600 km² paradise belonged to France in the 18th century, and was an independent nation between 1976 and 2009, when it was once again run by the British. However, Turks and Caicos has a few indicators that leads us to believe it is part of the Queen’s land, apart from the traffic flowing on the left way. So, instead of renting cars you might want to take cabs or vans. Although a British territory, the English spoken there reminds the American, due to the accent. Even the American dollar became the local currency, due to the frequent American visitors.
