Employee Survey Results Thank you to those of you that participated in our very first GPS employee survey. We read every single one of your responses. If you missed it, don’t worry, we will be sending out fresh surveys quarterly to the entire GPS family. Numbers are a very important marker of success or failure and much like our clinical teams are looking at production and visit goals, our support team is focused on how successful GPS is at getting you where you want to be with the least intrusive amount of engagement possible. As a result of the survey, we now have a baseline. Here are some common themes from the survey results and an update on what we are doing to make adjustments for the better.

DSO FEARS: Let’s talk about before GPS, many of you stated that your biggest fears were loss of control, changes in policies, and unrealistic expectations coming from corporate. I dislike the word, corporate, it sounds oppressive and top-down which isn’t at all the message that GPS as an organization wants to imply.

Henceforth, we shall be referred to as the Support Center. We are your partners. Sure, we deal with the regulated stuff like financials, HR, and IT security while you’re on the frontlines with our patients, but at the end of the day, we are all on the same team. In fact, the item that ranked the highest on what GPS does best is that we allow you to focus on dentistry, which is actually one of our Core Values.

BREAKDOWN OF OFFICE MORALE AND CULTURE: Although our score as a group was ok (4.1 out of 5), when it comes to our employees, we want to be better than just ok. Employee engagement and satisfaction was both a fear in partnering with a DSO and also your recommendation for improving the patient experience. It’s like a two for one win! Culture is complicated and can be affected by a vast number of issues.

We’ve chosen two specific issues to address now, and will be sharing more in future newsletters.

TRAINING: Whether you are new or you have a new team member, training and the effect of that training can be frustrating when not done the right way. I have mentioned before that we promoted Brittney Brandon to the Learning and Development Manager. Brittney’s first objective is to tackle the front office and insurance specialist roles. Because much of this can be accomplished virtually, we will prioritize clinics based on need and hit the ground running just as soon as Brittney formalizes her training plans.

COMMUNICATION: Well, the fact that you are reading this newsletter is a good first step in our efforts to be more transparent with you, but that’s not all… the leadership team at the Support Center has been working diligently to create a network of managers in each market to assist in facilitating communication to you, and communication from you. Take a look at our regional team’s organizational chart to see where your clinic fits in and expect more face-to-face time with the person who will become your lifeline as the organization grows. Speaking of growth, I would also like to point out that there are pathways to promotion at GPS; your interest in progressing your career is a good first conversation to have with your new leader.
