Northwestern Polytechnic’s campuses are located on Treaty 8 territory, the ancestral and present-day home to many diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to work, live, and learn on the traditional territory of Duncan’s First Nation, Horse Lake First Nation and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, who are the original caretakers of this land.
We acknowledge the history of this land and we are thankful for the opportunity to walk together in friendship, where we will encourage and promote positive change for present and future generations.
Message from the PRESIDENT
In geography, finding North is one of the first ways to get successfully oriented. All other things tend to fall into place, when we know where we are starting.
Northwestern Polytechnic is on a new path to prosperity. With a powerful designation and clear
polytechnic mandate, we are focused on the distinctive opportunities at hand and further afield.
Our Strategic Plan: True North 2024-2030 provides the roadmap for our future. The strategies within have been carefully considered and are grounded by extensive consultations with our learning community, industry partners, and fellow regional champions.
As we approached this task, we understood there was room for improvement. In fact, one of the most significant parts of our polytechnic journey to date has been discovering who we truly are and how we can optimize value for the communities and industries we serve. It’s something we don’t want to lose sight of.
In its simplest definition, True North is a clear awareness of purpose and direction. It is insight that matters both in the moment and for years to come.
Similar to our students, Northwestern Polytechnic is committed to continuous learning and improvement. We recognize that with deepened understanding and thought provoking engagement, we can bring about truly authentic interactions and meaningful impact. These are the things that matter the most.
I am confident that this plan will not only guide us, it will propel us forward into a space for growth and achievement.
Dr. Vanessa Sheane NWP President and CEO
