Classroom Conversations Honored at the 29th Annual Communicator Awards

Classroom Conversations, GPB’s podcast collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE), was recently honored with An Award of Distinction at the 29th Annual Communicator Awards presented by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.

Funded by GaDOE and the School Climate Transformation Grant, the podcast is a place for educators to share and learn. Each episode features Georgia educators who are teaching and reaching students in innovative and impactful ways.

With nearly 3,000 entries received from across the US and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.

The GPB Education team had a busy 2022-2023 school year supporting students, educators and families! As we gear up for another exciting school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on our top 10 highlights from this past year:

Our free digital education content was accessed over 11 million times!

We provided in-person learning opportunities to over 5,000 educators, students and families.

We visited 136 out of 181 Georgia school districts to offer professional learning for educators.

We launched Let’s Go Enviro, a new series for high school environmental science.

We distributed 3,500 backpacks full of learning resources and supplies in under-resourced communities across the state.

Our Classroom Conversations podcast received a 2023 Communicator Award of Distinction.

GASHA Go World: Claw Control, our latest game for primary computer science, received a 2023 EdTech Cool Tool Award.

We received the Overall Excellence in Education award at the 54th Annual Public Media Awards presented by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA).

We hosted Pollinators Live Exploration at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens, which had a live audience of over 20K students and educators.

We added hundreds of new resources to Georgia Home Classroom, our collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education.
