IT’S BEEN A WINNING SEASON FOR GPB
It’s been a winning season for GPB, with recognition from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Radio Television Digital News Association and the Southeast Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
In late October, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) inducted GPB Executive Producer Bill Nigut into the Hall of Fame. Consideration for this honor is given to broadcasters with a minimum of 20 years in broadcasting with a tie to Georgia.
GPB also took home Gabby Awards from GAB for Best Podcast series (The Bitter Southerner), Best Station Produced Promo (Shots in the Back), Bill Nigut, inducted into the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.


The Bitter Southerner won a GAB Gabby Award for best podcast series.

Jon Nelson won Best TV Sports Anchor from the GAB and was inducted into the NATAS Southeast Silver Circle.

In addition to his Gabby Award, Jon Nelson has recently been inducted into the Southeast Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ illustrious Silver Circle, which is comprised of professionals who have dedicated at least 25 years to television excellence. Nelson has covered high school athletics for GPB for 27 years.
Finally, GPB and the Jessye Norman School of the Arts won a national Edward R. Murrow Award. Shots in the Back: Exhuming the 1970 Augusta Riot was honored for Large Market Radio Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a ceremony hosted by the Radio Television Digital News Association.
