PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION
Publisher(s): Zebra Publishing Speaker(s): Lana Ghoghoberidze
Zaira Arsenishvili came from a family that suffered repression during the Soviet period. She witnessed the events of the Great Purge of 1937. The novel tells of the period after the Soviet invasion / Sovietization of Georgia, which began in 1921, subsequent to the establishment of the Bolshevik rule. The narrative, however, is not a piece of documentary prose, and the abovementioned events are fictionalized. The author and her works shall be discussed by publisher Maka Kasradze and director Lana Ghoghoberidze, the latter of whom has previously collaborated with Zaira Arsenishvili on various screenplays.
