Alles raak net so verskriklik stadig! "Uit die dieptes roep ek na U, Here, luister tog na my, Here, hoor tog my hulpgeroep. As U ons sondes in aanmerking sou neem, Here, wie sou dan nog bestaan? Maar by U ís daar vergifnis: daarom word U steeds gedien. Ek stel my vertroue in die Here, ek vertrou op Hom, ek wag op die vervulling van sy woord. Ek wag op die Here meer as wat die wagte op die môre wag, wagte op die môre. Wag op die Here, Israel, want by die Here is daar troue liefde, by Hom is die verlossing seker. Hy alleen sal Israel verlos van al sy sondes." (Ps. 130) Wag nog, glo nog, vertrou nog, byt nog vas, maar bid steeds, en doen wat jy moet doen, maar moenie sy werk wil oorneem nie. Sy tyd is sy tyd en Hy verduidelik nie sommer vir ons waarmee Hy besig is nie, maar as jy terugkyk in jou lewe, sal jy saamstem dat Hy altyd betyds was. ~ Willem Botha

SABOTAGE - THE ONSLAUGHT ON ESKOM | KYLE COWAN | R280.00 | 073 847 2468 TO ORDER

About the book: After unknown saboteurs toppled a strategic pylon near Lethabo Power Station in the Free State in November 2021, almost causing the country to plunge into stage 5 load-shedding, Eskom’s chief executive officer André de Ruyter declared: ‘This was clearly now an act of sabotage and I think we can call it as such.’ It was not the first such incident, but it was the clearest indication to date that there are individuals out there intent on causing maximum damage to the ailing power utility, and more specifically, to its corruption-busting CEO, De Ruyter, and straight-shooting COO Jan Oberholzer. In Sabotage: The Onslaught on Eskom, award-winning journalist Kyle Cowan unravels the history, corruption and politicisation of the state power utility to explain how and why those entrusted with turning it around are being systematically targeted in what can only be described as a sustained and vicious onslaught designed to protect political patronage networks and those intent on robbing the country. Drawing from interviews, documents, court cases and testimony at the Zondo Commission, this is a shocking account of an orchestrated campaign that affects the daily lives of all South Africans and the survival of the country’s economy.

A bus full of ugly people had a head-on-collision with a truck. When they died, God granted each one a wish. The first person said, “I want to be gorgeous.” God snapped his fingers and it happened. The second person said the same thing and God did the same thing. This went on and on throughout the group. God noticed the last man in line was laughing hysterically. By the time God got to the last ten people, the last man was laughing and rolling on the ground. When the man’s turn came, he laughed and said, “I wish they were all ugly again.”

World Hypertension day is celebrated annually on the 17th May. The main aim of the day is to educate the public and increase awareness of hypertension, which is also commonly known as high blood pressure. Hypertension is a major cause of a range of health problems such as strokes, heart attacks and kidney disease, and can also contribute to dementia. Many people who suffer from hypertension are not aware that they have it as there can be no symptoms, often people only find out after suffering a heart attack or stroke. The day is organised by the World Hypertension League (WHL) which is an umbrella organisation composed of 85 hypertension societies and leagues from all over the world. The theme for this year is Know Your Numbers, and the WHL would like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in May Measurement Month. In this initiative which started in 2017, volunteer manned screening sites will be setting up in a range of venues around the world to check the blood pressure of as many people as possible. More information about World Hypertension Day can be found at www.whleague.org and those interested in taking part in May Measurement Month can register interest at www.maymeasure.com. Further information and advice about Hypertension can also be found at your local pharmacist or GP surgery.

How Boston rose to the challenge, emerging as a leader in Distance Education Studying through a pandemic has been a challenge for students. Some institutions (like Boston!) managed to take their students from classroom to dining room table seamlessly, while others battled to create a virtual classroom. Boston has always relied on technology as an effective learning methodology as technology ensures: academic consistency, quality, delivery and validity of all materials and knowledge transfer. Students learn at their own times and at their own pace, anywhere and anytime. Absent students do not miss lectures – they pick up where they left off. Learners who start with less understanding of a topic can repeat lectures until they are comfortable with the topic. Says student Eunice from Welkom, “I will highly recommend Boston. I had a wonderful experience and the lecturers and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Never had any problems. Quick responses to enquiries and questions. They always checked up on me and asked if I needed any form of help or assistance. They truly care about their students and want them to succeed. I am very happy with the experience and made new friends along the way.” What is unique about Boston? Says Alida Hattingh of Boston

Om in

Welkom, “We have been educating tertiary students for over 31 years. We have always preferred a technology-based methodology as this has increased the success rate of our students. Why? It enables self-paced learning yet with individual mentoring and personal attention from our educators and lecturers. Boston also gives easy access with over 47 convenient locations and a student body in excess of 25 000. External institutions such as CompTia rate us highly - We are rated amongst the top in Africa and globally by CompTIA. We have accredited International Examination Centres, and win awards annually! These include: • Coolest College in South Africa (Sunday Times 2021) • Best College for 13 Years (The Star “Your Choice” Awards) • Best Online Provider (new category) by the Star readers in the Your Choice Awards 2021. • Best College for 8 Years (Pretoria News “Your Choice” Awards) During the COVID-19 epidemic Boston colleges created WhatsApp groups to keep students informed and updated. Boston offered its students an MTN 30gig data package at a hugely discounted rate, in order to assist students without access to the internet. Boston

negotiated with Game stores to offer a discount on laptops!!!. That is phenomenal. Also, Boston campuses are involved in community projects. Boston is a cohesive, integrated facilitator of Higher Education principles”. IT students should be the quickest to take up the challenge of purely online learning, “So far I have had a great experience. I have received more than enough support and I’m glad I chose Boston to study for my Diploma in IT Network Systems. I have gone from having zero confidence in myself to being so proud of what I have achieved in such a short time with the support of peers and the tutors in the college. The academic support is fantastic, my first year of study I was nervous”, but “the tutors have always been available to speak to and reply via email very quickly. During the pandemic, the contact was there near 24/7. Personal support is also superb. All-round great team” Training Advisers at Boston ‘close the gap’ in distance studies: “Starting my studying journey hasn't been easy but because of my student advisor Wesley it hasn't been difficult and since the lockdown started I am sent an email twice a week to check on my progress and for assistance. Help is just a call away”. Semeno

Phuti agrees, “In this lockdown, things aren't simply the way we thought, and it is a privilege and honour to see how our facilitators are trying their best to communicate with us in order to solve all problems that we face through our studies. I appreciate all the hard work from our facilitators during this difficult time.” Students have managed during the pandemic and lockdown due both to their own perseverance, as well as systematic management of all issues that arose due to Lockdown regulations. "I love receiving good customer service, especially during times like these. Imagine being special enough to receive a call on a weekly basis from a Boston employee just to check up on you. Then to receive an offer from Boston for such affordable data. Now, this is one of the organizations going out of their way to ensure their students feel valued and not forgotten. Thanks to Boston Orange Grove you guys clearly know what customer service means! Keep it up", says Shazelle Pillay. newsroom@rekordmediafs.co.za
