courage. In fact, it takes more than courage - it takes tenacity, resilience & a bit of grit! Adopting a fresh attitude towards how you respond to judgement is also very useful. When we are making changes in our lives, one big change isn’t the cure, it is a million little changes.

Let’s start with the basics. I would like you to visualise overhauling your life to live YOUR best life for YOU like building a wall. When building our foundations, we must ask ourselves are we building on sand or cement?

Sand is soft, changes form and a bit unstable. Cement is solid, strong, durable and means business. If we do not

have the foundations built in a solid fashion - at some point, the wall will come crashing down.

For me, the main foundation that needs to be put into practice, is self-care. Some people misunderstand what self-care is. Self-care can be having your hair dyed or cut. It can be maintaining your nails, eyebrows or lashes.

It can be makeup, tan or straight white teeth. It can be building upper body muscle (and not skipping leg day!).

It can be buying nice clothes, shaving or styling your hair. It can be having a massage or spa day with friends.

This kind of self-care is needed however this is taking pride in your appearance and treating yourself to a nice short-term experience making you feel better.

Life is supposed to be full of joy, laughter, love, fulfilment, adventure and most of all, peace.

We all know people who look amazing all the time, are immaculately turned out and always looks their best yet are struggling personally or professionally. Maybe they are overcompensating by making sure the wrapper on the package looks well to distract themselves and the world that their life really is falling apart on the inside.

They look like the elegant swan gliding on water, yet they are kicking frantically underneath just to stay afloat. I know this because I have done it. Life isn’t supposed to be lived like this. Life is supposed to be full of joy, laughter, love, fulfilment, adventure and most of all, peace.

Let me make a clear distinction between external selfcare and internal self-care.

Internal self-care is many things but mainly it is taking care of our mind, making sure that our thoughts are not polluting our capacity to make healthy decisions for ourselves. If we want to live our best life, we need to maintain a good relationship with how our mind works and how we can quieten the mind in times of challenge for us to make balanced healthy decisions. Our minds are spaces for thinking and creating, not for storage.

If we carry everything in the forefront of our minds that we have ever experienced it is going to get heavy

quickly and very crowded! We do this when we have not processed an experience correctly. Then we end up dragging every experience into the present, every day! That is hard work! When we do this, we become a victim to our past, daily. Instead we could harness our thoughts and become the hero of today. Dealing with negative experiences correctly is vital. We look back into our past to learn from it, but we don’t stare. Look back, don’t unpack.

Now on the build up to Christmas, please do take care of your wrapper – but what it’s what is inside that really makes the difference.

Meet Joanne Hession Founder of LIFTireland.ie There’s nothing better than a day at the Spa! It’s a chance to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate. As well as being good for our bodies I always feel that it has an important role in revitalising our minds and spirits. It gives us time to think and space to reflect.

In 2017 I founded a non-profit called Leading Ireland’s Future Together (LIFT). LIFT is also all about having space to reflect. We live in a World that is fast-paced and dynamic. We are surrounded by ‘noise’ and distractions, with lots of people telling us lots of things about what we should look like, what is good for us and bad for us, what we should wear, think and believe.

Amid all of this noise it can be difficult sometimes for us to get the space to reflect on what we believe and what we stand for.

LIFT is about allowing each of us to develop our inner leadership muscle, by reflecting on and improving how well we live themes like respect; empathy; accountability; and listening, in our daily lives, whether that be at work, in school, at home or at play. LIFT lets us build our inner leader through small and achievable personal actions.

LIFT works through small, group roundtables that, over an 8-week period, reflect on different personal leadership themes. These are non-judgmental and open to everyone regardless of background. They are simple and personal, allowing each individual to take control of their own growth.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to travel to Paraguay as part of a team that had been invited by that country’s President, to educate large groups of Paraguayans around issues of personal ethics and values. It was a transformational moment for me – I looked at what they were trying to do and was incredibly moved. Paraguay was a poor country with many problems, but they were trying to take responsibility, believing that the answer to many of their problems started with building up individuals.

Ireland is an amazing country in so many ways, but I believe that we can be even better, and I believe that the key to becoming even better is to turn us into a nation of good leaders. Inspired by my experience, I founded LIFT with the ambition to turn Ireland into a global beacon of good leadership. And when I talk about leadership I’m not talking only of people in the big offices or in ministerial cars. LIFT was founded for

Is CBD Legal and what is the hype all about?

“Are you sure they are legal?” Well,

they weren’t the exact words out of my mother in laws mouth when we told

her we were taking CBD oil, but close enough! ‘

Funnily enough I thought we would get a lot more comments like this

but instead, I discovered many of my

friends have tried or are taking CBD oil in some shape or form but it is still such a taboo subject, no one dares admit it.

So what is CBD?

‘Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. In 2018, clinical research on cannabidiol included preliminary studies of anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain’. Wikipedia Although no companies are claiming medical cures, many people are speaking out about what amazing results they are getting.

So how did we start on this journey?

Well, Bryan, my other half and business partner has suffered from extreme eczema since childhood. When I met him, his skin was always red, sore and inflamed and it seemed to get worse over time. Stress and worry exacerbated it. The only relief he got was when we spent 7 weeks working in the Maldives and his skin was completely clear. Unfortunately, we don’t have the privilege of living in a hot climate at the moment as a solution so we had to look at other ways. He has tried everything on the market, been on clinical trials and nothing has ever worked. We knew that taking antibiotics and painkillers were not a long term solution, plus the effects were getting less the more he used them.

I had heard about CBD but didn’t know much about them until I was introduced to Heaven’s Hemp in the UK. The owner Neil has a wealth of knowledge about how it works, why it works, what amounts to use. So we took the plunge and Bryan tried the Platinum edition 2000mg CBD oil. After just a month of taking it, his skin started to clear up, it was unbelievable. So much so, we didn’t believe the CBD had done this to start with, but then we stopped taking it for a couple of days and the redness and itching started again.

I work as a spa consultant and many spa owners are looking for more natural solutions in their spas. We are currently launching a specialised CBD massage with oils for people experiencing inflammation, pain, and stress.

It’s not going to be a miracle cure treatment but it will give amazing results for people and provide some relief.

Very often people ask “Why would you go to see a life coach?” Or “How would you know if you needed to see a life coach?” The answer is simple really. Just ask yourself the following questions.

Are you waking up excited and invigorated by all the new opportunities that each day will bring you?

Or do you feel stuck, bored or overwhelmed on where to begin?

While it’s normal to have these negative feelings from time to time, they can really bring you down and take away your joy and passion for life… however the good news is that taking control of your life and happiness depends on YOU and it’s probably much easier than you think.

Here are 5 effective tips that you can apply today to mindfully get excited about life again.

1. Create a happiness ritual.

Figure out the activities, people, places or objects that activate your happiness and write them down. Make a list. If you enjoy sitting at coffee shops, spending time in nature or helping others, make it part of your daily routine.

2. Focus on creating a new habit instead of trying to achieve all your goals.

While goal setting and making New Year resolutions is great, trying to juggle them at the same time can be overwhelming. Instead, try focusing your energy and attention into developing one positive habit at a time…

Take action by focusing on your personal growth and gain a deeper connection with what really matters to you. Create a deeper connection with YOU!

and with repetition you’ll soon see it will become automatic.

3. Let go of what no longer serves you.

Make a list of the people and activities you need to strategically let go of because they are not in alignment with your values or are not in integrity with where you want to be in life. Now is the time to let go of anything holding you back and any negative people and situations.

4. Practice creative visualization.

Start by asking yourself this question: If I was living my dream life, at the end of this year, how would I feel and who would I be? This simple yet effective exercise will help you feel more connected with your goals and happier about yourself. It’s all about the feeling, get into the feeling and manifesting it faster!

5. Stay true to your path.

A successful life is one that is lived through understanding and pursuing one’s own path, not chasing after the dreams of others. You have to do what’s right for you, no one else. You have everything you need within you to become the best possible version of YOU. Believe that you CAN.

6. Take control of your happiness.

You are responsible for your own happiness. I often hear, “I am unhappy because of X person, or X situation”.

However, happiness comes from the inside out, not the other way around. Most people are waiting for things

to change to be happier, but the truth is becoming motivated, inspired and fully engaged in life is a choice that starts within you.

Instead of trying to work on your problems or your life, make a conscious decision that you want to feel happy right now. Take action by focusing on your personal growth and gain a deeper connection with what really matters to you. Create a deeper connection with YOU! These are great little tips however; if you would like to take it further and get some help by all means look up coaches in your area to go deeper into your process.

So open a new chapter and spend time working on you.

It also ticks the box of self-care and self-love. You are worth it!

Let’s face it, and I hate to be saying the c word this early, but Christmas is nearly here! We all want to look our best for our Christmas parties and our skin has been through hell and back with the cold!

You’re reading this now and it’s only just less than 2 months away. This means we only just have two skin cycles to get our skin looking its best!

Every 26-32 days our skin turns over, which means that if we want to create a change in the skin we have to wait a whole cycle before noting the change.

When using cosmetic products, the like that Boots or your makeup brand sells, these products work superficially into the skin. They treat the skin of today.

They are going to make your skin feel good for the moment say if you’re going out for a party that evening.

But why treat the skin of today when we can treat the skin of tomorrow, and create change in the deeper layers of the skin? So that the new skin coming up to the surface is going to create that glow from within!

So what are my, treating the skin of tomorrow, PreChristmas winter skin tips?

With the cold weather you will find that the heating is going to wreak havoc on the skin. If we aren’t protecting our skin we end up allowing all the moisture to evaporate off our skin. This creates dehydration in the skin. Your skin can feel very tight when dehydrated, especially after you just step out of the shower. And believe it or not the leading cause of fine lines is dehydration! If you want to look years younger for Christmas, start hydrating and protecting your skin with hyaluronic acid now.

Hyaluronic acid holds 1000x its own weight in water, so it attracts moisture to itself and locks it in!

The holidays aren’t necessarily fun for everyone. The stress of being around family or even just shopping for family can make us look older and more tired.

Stress causes inflammation and inflammation at the cellular level can actually cause collagen and elastin to snap. To help protect this from happening add Vitamin C into your facial routine. Vitamin C protects our building blocks of the skin but it also brightens the skin, helping with those dull, tired appearances!
