Synopsis A young hitchhiker catches a ride with an old man in the vast expanse of the semi-desert that is the Karoo. His only aim is to get to the next town, and preferably in silence… Little does he know that he will get more than he bargained for – an in depth lecture on the species no man can ever comprehend… Woman! During the journey together they explore the topic of the mysterious attraction of a beautiful woman. Along the way they stop at a service station or diner and the young hitchhiker gets to experience firsthand exactly what the old man was pondering on and talking about. By the time they reach the drop off point for the young hitchhiker, is he any wiser to the mysteries that lie hidden inside the beauty of a woman? Have we been misled only to learn more than we bargained for… Mystify.
Johnny Swanepoel DIRECTOR/EDITOR/MOTION GRAPHICS
Johnny Swanepoel started in advertising when he was about 19 years old. He worked his way up and took the leap of starting his own business where he ended up teaching himself film on the side. After making several films, he got approached by an Australian TV Channel via Facebook to air his work on their channels. Afterwards, his goal was to be accepted into Cannes as well as make his first feature length film. Johnny accomplished his first goal in 2013 when he got accepted into Cannes. He is currently working on his second goal of making a feature film in the near future. All his work of camera man, directing, editing, and motion graphics is completely self-taught, which has made him appreciate his work immensely.
Sonja ter Horst PRODUCER
Sonja ter Horst is one of the best producers I have worked with in my film career. She is methodical, pedantic, and an eye for detail. She’s a lovely person to work with and very professional. Sonja has worked with all types of areas in film, from commercials to features to shorts to corporate videos, and has been successful in all areas of expertise. She has produced for some of the top ad agencies, directors and produc4on companies over the past decade. Short film is something new to her repertoire.
