Welcome to the 2024 SD Excellence Sale

We are excited to return to the Dacotah Bank Center for the 2024 Edition of SD Excellence Sale. Breeders are once again bringing from the top of their herds! The heifers will compete in the show ring, but more importantly offer genetic value as an addition to any cow herd. The steers will compete at any level. Once again all lots have been videoed and the sale will be broadcast on The Livestock Link.

We appreciate your interest and look forward to seeing you in Brookings!

TB MISS JACKIE M386

Maternal Sib to the 2024 Champion Horned Hereford Heifer at the Iowa State Fair. Very complete, dark pigment, polled heifer on an awesome set of feet and legs.

Genetic

Grandaughter of Jayna’s

SHOW HEIFER PROSPECTS

This daughter out of the industry leading sire Bar JZ On Demand is a well-balanced female with great pigment and eye appeal. Her depth and length of body are some of her key attributes that feature her potential of making a great cow. With her WW and YW being in the top 4% of the breed and top 20% in other EPDs, she exhibits growth like no other. Latch on to this female to not only make great replacements, but to also add value to future bull battery. This heifer is not eligible for the SD Hereford Special

This heifer can walk the walk and wants to be a show cow! If you want one to compete in the show ring and be a staple in your cow herd…look no further! Big bodied, big footed, great haired- she is a recipe for success no matter what you do with her! Her mother hasn’t disappointed us yet!

GANT MILA 499 225

DBP HYP This long bodied, deep ribbed, well balanced heifer has stood out in our herd and is destined to stand out in yours. Coming from a first calf show heifer, she rocked the County Fair winning Grand Champion cow calf pair and has a bright future ahead of her.

SHOW HEIFER PROSPECTS

Goggle eyed might be the first thing you notice about 409 but far from the best. She’s extra long bodied, bold and deep in her rib structure and elegant on the move. She’s conservatively marked and will make a great addition to any show barn and cow herd.

DBP Here is a complete well balanced female. She is extended

DBP The big 1/2 sister to our other 2 consignments. M420 is a long, stout, dark red female with a big set of running gear. Mix that with her correct build & you have something that will perform & remain useful for years to come.

MELANIE M421 ET

These embryo calves came in a little green but they’re doing the right things. M419 & M421 are full sibs to Chesney Effling’s “Jade” that was shown a couple of years ago, rounding out her career being selected as champion cow/calf pair at the 2023 NJHE. Their skeleton, body, and look are just right. Both of them have good, soft hair to go with it. Give these younger heifers a little more time on feed & you won’t be disappointed. M419 is horned, while M421 is scurred.

SHOW HEIFER PROSPECTS

DBP When we saw Sharpshooter we knew he would compliment our cows well. A nice shot of show ring appeal with a great blend of real world maternal attributes. She is built great and has the thick soft hair to help make this show year fun!
