*does not include 2 starters (Andrew Warren and Will Egolf) who missed 2008-09 with injury.

In 2007-08 and 2008-09 the MVC had seven head-coaching changes (two at one school). All 10 coaches return from last year for 2009-10. That's only happened twice in the past 22 years (for 2005-06 and this year). In 2006, when the MVC returned 30+ starters and all of its coaches ... 4 NCAA Tournament bids and two Sweet 16 trips.

A league-record seven MVC teams were in the post-season last year. The league had a then-record six teams in postseason play in 2005-06. The Valley has had four or more post-season bids in the same season 15 times, including each of the last six years. Last year, only 7 leagues had 7 or more post-season bids the MVC and the 6 BCS-football leagues. In the past five years, The Valley has combined for 26 post-season wins. The Valley had five post-season wins in 2008-09. In 2008-09, The Valley had a combined 82-51 (.617) record in non-conference play. The 82 non-conference wins in 2008-09 rank eighth best all-time in the league’s 102-year history. The MVC set an all-time record with 1,341,151 fans attending home games in league cities and the State Farm MVC Tournament. The league drew 54,399 fans in four days at the State Farm MVC Tournament - the fifth-best in the history of the tournament. 57 players who averaged double-figure minutes and 56 players who played in 25 or more games are back. A total of 34 returning players started 10 or more games in 2008-09. Four of the league's top 10 scorers and four of the league's top 10 rebounders return for 2009-10. Notably, in a nine-year span (from 1999 through 2007), The Valley had sent at least two teams to the Big Dance every season, including three teams twice (1999, 2005), and a league-record four teams once (2006). Five teams reached the Sweet 16 in those nine years. The Valley has been rated among the nation’s top 9 conferences in RPI in each of the past five seasons, including a No. 6 ranking in 2005-06 and in 2006-07. Before 2005-06, the MVC’s high-water mark was No. 8 (1999, 2005, 2008). The Valley was rated No. 9 in 2008-09.
