If you’re planning on taking a trip to the South, Georgia is a great place to consider. Aside from the fact that you can get your fill on all kinds of Southern food, Georgia also has several scenic hiking trails to offer. In Georgia, you can find mountains, marshes, forests, and even beaches, so there’s something there for all types of hikers.

Long Creek Falls This trail is located on the Appalachian Trail, which is so long it stretches across 14 different states. Long Creek Falls follows Stover Creek and eventually leads to a breathtaking waterfall. The path is shaded thanks to the many old-growth trees nearby that provide a nice cool breeze.

Those who aren’t afraid of a challenge may be keen on visiting Brasstown Bald, located near Blairsville. This hike leads you to the highest point in Georgia, which allows you to see four different states. The view is quite impressive, and at night, you may even catch a glimpse of the Atlanta skyline.

Raven Cliffs Wilderness This hike is just under five miles and can be rather steep toward the end of it. The trail is located near a town called Helen and leads you to a gorgeous waterfall that is worth every mile you hike. Aside from the waterfall, you can also expect to see lots of wildlife, including turkeys and deer.

Panther Creek Falls This is yet another hike that will lead you directly to a waterfall located near Turnerville.

This trail is much easier to hike than other ones as it is a pretty flat route and is only 3.5 miles long. Once you get to the falls, you can swim or even sit and try and catch some fish.

Providence Canyon State Park This area is known as Georgia’s own Grand Canyon and is the result of poor farming practices that took place in the 1800s. The trail here is about 10 miles long, and despite being deemed moderate, you should take precautions because the sides of the creek beds are similar to quicksand.
