This innovative residential initiative takes inspiration from the local vernacular architecture, incorporating time-honored design principles and materials into a contemporary context.

The project’s design is a testament to its deep-rooted commitment to preserving the cultural and architectural heritage of the region.

Traditional construction techniques and indigenous materials are used to create homes that seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape, ensuring a minimal ecological footprint. This approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also respects the environment.

The Vernacular Residential Project goes beyond being just a housing development. It aspires to create a community that values sustainable living and local craftsmanship. Residents here not only enjoy the comforts of eco-friendly homes but also have opportunities to participate in cultural events, workshops, and activities that celebrate the region’s traditions. Local artisans and businesses are given a platform to thrive, thereby contributing to the economic vitality of the area.

This kind of space gives no privacy. The entire built form is exposed to the person entering the house and is also visible from outside.

This kind of form helps in keeping the privacy as the outsider can go from the outer part of the house without disturbing the private areas. It creates a visual barrier from outside.

Giving higher level to the public and semi private spaces increase their value. Boutique also gets highlighted due to higher letvel. Level variation also helps in maintaining the privacy in the back.

Built form in the center divides the huge space into two parts, forming a double courtyard system, giving separate areas to perform different activities.

Straight stairs doesn’t breaks the axis and it also gives importance to the roof.

A small waterbody increases the aesthetics of the house and also helps in reducing the hot air coming from southwest towards the private area.

Terrace provides 360° view and also connects to the neighboring house in the East.

Pergola in the front and the private area acts as a welcoming symbol which gives relaxing diffused light and air.

Revit, Rhinoceres 3D, VRay, Lumion, Photoshop, Indesign The Centre of Democracy project in Connaught Place, Delhi, is an innovative and interactive three-level structure located underground and connected to the blue metro lane corridor. It utilizes curved forms and natural light to create an engaging and enchanting environment, incorporating sustainable materials and energy efficient systems.

The project’s main focus is on providing an inviting and eco-friendly space for visitors to connect, enjoy the city, and engage with various social activities, such as art exhibitions and workshops. It fosters a sense of community and provides opportunities for local artists and businesses, making it a potential economic driver for the area.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and artistic expression, the Centre of Democracy project aims to be a positive addition to Connaught Place, offering visitors a unique and vibrant experience while being mindful of the local environment.

The central Atrium gives a sense of movement and invitation providing the visual connection between levels and allowing the natural light to reach till the bottom level.

The Roof Garden with a view inside will enhances aesthetics, promotes well-being, and creates a harmonious indoor-outdoor connection.

The Entrance of the building is like a walking porch which acts as a transitional space between inside and outside like the Regal Building.

Exhibition space and cafe are visible from outside and from the atrium above attracting people to come and interact from both sides.

Transparent public space from park and cafe and exhibition space from metro inviting people to come inside.

The passage from the main entry acts as a path of democracy where everyone is treated equally.

SPACES & EXPERIENCE

MAGGIE’S DELHI M AG G I E ’ S C E N T R E Academic Work Sem 5 | Individual

Revit, Rhinoceres 3D, VRay, Lumion, Photoshop A Maggie’s centre is a free cancer treatment centre, named after the Late Maggie Keswick Jencks, who died of cancer in 1995. Maggie’s opened their centres across the Europe and then reached to other continents. Till date there is no Maggie Centre designed and built in India.

The main aim was to develop three different schemes, iterations of the maggie’s centre taking different vissions reflecting different dexterity with which the design has been approached. The key point of difference was the site. In the first siting option, the Maggie Center was considered as an extension to thecancer hospital. Second, at walking distance from the hospital and the third was at a distance which is not accessible by walking.

Focusing on the features of healing architecture, the maggie center is a welcoming place for people suffering from cancer where they can interact with these spaces, one begins to feel different until the building disappears in the background. The spaces are anti hospital in its experience where you feel more at home unlike stressful hospital environments.

The hospital is located in Paschim Vihar in North Delhi.

The immidiate area towards the east and west of the site have very little building cover hence allowing the warm sun rays to enter the upper parts of the building. Prior to construction. the open spaces near the hospital building were green spaces or used for parking.

The high rise buildings proposed will block the North natural light in the Medical institute building. The open spaces on the east and west are however well covered with trees and grass will help shading the lower floors and keeping the microclimate relavively cool.

The Maggie’s Center is designed as an Extension to the hospital which will have its own pricinples and ways to teach patients and their families to fight and beat cancer first mentally & then physically.

Revit, Rhinoceres 3D, VRay, Lumion, Photoshop, Figma Fatehpur Sikri being a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site has enormous tourist potential so to enrich the visitors experience it is necessary to make appropriate interventions aimed at underscoring not only the historicity of the site but also simultaneously providing in its proximity a contemporary, culturally enriching public space.

The proposed centre is a comprehensive facility that includes a site museum, interpretation centre, different exhibition galleries and an educational open area theatre with some beautifully landscaped areas that guides you throughout the site.

Focusing on the features of Mughal architecture, the visiting center acts as a transition between the modern and mughal architecture, welcoming people to learn about the architecture and ideologies of that time by interacting with different buildings.

Grid axes ensure order, symmetry, and balance in Mughal architecture. The octagonal shape, a key element, symbolizes harmony, adding aesthetic and cultural significance to the architectural design.

SPACE & DESIGN

The Design follows a path of transition which starts from the mughal architecture to the modern architecture depending on the functionalityand architecture of the built form to connect the visitors and gives them a sense of movement through the timeline.

Mughal gardens are integral to Mughal architecture, reflecting harmony with nature. They showcase Persian influence, providing serene spaces for leisure and reflection, blending geometric design with lush greenery.

16 kms from Panipat on the Panipat-Karnal road on the National Highway No. 1. to the east of the town is located the Mughal Sarai. Onc ways are surviving. They are located within a distance of about 100 metres. This site has one of the undocumented sarais to enhance a heritage. The site is currently involved in the community as a passive feature, hence necessity to move it up to be an active part of the society is required.

The gateways of sarais are usually built high and monumental to be visible from a distance, and it seldom had a fixed relation to the size o had a distinct double arch feature with ornamentations. Unfortunately, no such decorations have survived in any of the recorded sarais. enough rooms to accommodate shiqdars and the chowkidars.
