Goolum Goolum Aboriginal Co-operative respectfully acknowledges that our o ces are based on unceded land of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples. We pay our respects to their ancestors, and to Elders, both past and present, and to the future Elders and caretakers of this land. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.

Here at Goolum Goolum, our goal is to support all aspects of our people’s lives—physical, social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual. This is what guides everything we do.

We're really looking forward to NAIDOC Week celebrations.

The opening ceremony will remind us of our rich heritage, and the art exhibition will show o the amazing talent in our Community.

The Men’s Group and Celebrating Sista’s have been great at getting everyone involved in activities. Their wisdom and energy are what makes our Community strong.

The Sista’s have done an awesome job bringing us all together and spreading joy.

Last month, we took part in VACCHO’s statewide Social and Emotional Wellbeing gathering in Albury-Wodonga.

It was a big deal for us. We got to meet SEWB workers from lots of di erent places, share stories and talk about how we can all support each other better.

What we learned there will help us plan even better ways to help our Community.

Pride Month is also happening right now. It’s a time to celebrate how di erent and amazing we all are. We want everyone, especially our LGBTQIASB+ members, to feel safe, valued, and respected here.

I want to give a shout-out to Hamilton Street Medical Clinic for looking a er us so well, especially during these cold months and with everything going on with COVID-19. They’re doing a great job keeping us all healthy, and we need to keep following their advice to stay safe.

June is Men’s Health Month, a good reminder to raise awareness of the importance of mental health among our Men and to encourage our Men to speak up and seek support for their mental health issues.

Looking ahead, let's keep focusing on our whole Community’s well-being. Every event and get-together brings us closer to making sure everyone’s taken care of. Thanks so much for your support and hard work. Together, we can do amazing things. Take care.

Vaccho’s statewide SEWB gathering

gathering brought together SEWB workers from all di erent organisations to share knowledge, swap stories and to talk about social and emotional well-being in a safe place. There were many presentations and discussion on programs, workshops and mental health delivered by SEWB workers and Elders.

On the final day of the gathering, the team were granted the opportunity to join a tour at the Burraja cultural and Environmental Discovery centre Wodonga. They started the tour with a traditional smoking ceremony followed by a walk on country, listening to stories and viewing the sculptures.

Our team have felt very inspired by this gathering and eager to see what they can do with this knowledge for our community!

On Tuesday 4th of June our lovely ladies at Elders Group were treated to a much deserved pamper day and high tea. Haircuts, waxing,  facials, hand massages, make up and nails were provided to our ladies who soaked up the attention and ALL looked beautiful and relaxed throughout the day.  A big shout out to Crystal who was able to cut our ladies hair on short notice. It was an enjoyable day for all involved.
