TheGGACEarlyYearsTeamparticipatedinUnconsciousBiastrainingthroughtheAustralianHRInstituteover thelastweekofAugust.Asweallworkparttime,wehaven’tyethadalotoftimetounpackthistrainingand reflectonourlearningasateam.Havingsaidthat,weareexcitedtosharesomeofourimmediatethoughts andsubsequentresearch.
Asanorganisation,andasindividuals,westronglyrecommendseekingtrainingsuchasthis,andCultural Sensitivitytraining,tohelpusallreflectbothonourselves,andalsoonhowweworkwithothers.Somuchof whatwedo,wedowithoutevengivingitasecondthought.Thiscanbebothapositive,andanegative.This YouTubeclipwassharedaspartofthetraining:

MyworkisundertakenincollaborationwithAboriginalcommunity, Aboriginalfamilies,servicesandorganisations.Iworkcollaborativelywith individualkindergartenteachers,KindergartenEarlyYearsManagement Services,MaternalChildHealthNurses,andotherEarlyYearsservices. Togetherwegenerate,implement,testandembedchangeideas,ensuring thattheseareconnectedtothebroaderobjectivesoftheBestStart,and leadtoimprovedservicesandoutcomesforchildren.
MyworkisinformedbyourAboriginalandTorresStraitIslandercommunity, ourBestStartPartnershipmembers,andrelevantserviceproviders.This workreflectsandisinformedbytheVictorianEarlyYearsLearningand DevelopmentFramework(VEYLDF),ChildSafeStandards,andtheMarrung AboriginalEducationPlan2026-2026tonameafew I’msupportedinthis workbyTheCentreforCommunityChildHealth-MurdochChildren's ResearchInstitute

COMMUNITY-AdvocateandengagewithKooriefamiliestohelpcreate connectionswiththeirlocalKinder. AswellassupportingKindergartenservicestoactivelyinvolvethelocal Aboriginalcommunityandfamilies,inprovidinginputtothekindergarten program.
