FEATURED ARTIST HELEN TAYLOR
Helen Taylor is an artist working out of the Goodwill Art Studio and Gallery. Helen dives headfirst into everything she creates, working with passion, love, and unrivaled energy. When talking about her work Helen says it gives her stamina and courage. She works with painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture.

EXTRAORDINARY PERSON OF GRIT RAE WHITLOCK Rae came to Goodwill with a variety of job skill barriers, but Rae was determined to better his situation. Rae enrolled in the Certified Ethical Hacker program and each week he met course expectations and delivered strong scores. Rae has strong leadership skills and technical expertise. He is adaptable and loves problem-solving. All of this led to Rae teaching Goodwill’s CompTIA A+ course and having strong pass rates and even stronger employment rates for his students. It is important to Rae that individuals achieve financial stability, independence, and a sense of self-worth….just like he did.

EXTRAORDINARY PERSON OF RESILIENCE DAVID CHARLES At the young age of 17, David survived a tragic accident after suffering lifethreatening chemical burns at his family’s printing company.
David came to Goodwill Columbus in 2009 and quickly became an integral part of Business Services’ custodial team. His strong work ethic and positive demeanor are highly regarded. He approaches each day with a positive attitude and a service mindset which helps to build team morale. David makes sure that everyone around him feels valued which earns him respect and trust from his team.

EXTRAORDINARY PERSON OF COMPASSION KATE HOOGEVEEN
Kate has been part of Goodwill’s Adult Day Services program since 2013. Kate is a true self-advocate and is always eager to learn more about how to help herself and others. Kate also loves giving back to her community. Volunteering allows her to have fun while doing good. Her favorite places to volunteer are LifeCare Alliance and Cat Welfare Association. Kate believes that Goodwill has provided her with opportunities that she might not have had if she were not part of the program. When asked about what she enjoys most at Goodwill she says it’s “living my best life”!
