The Hansel And Gretel Story And Its Moral  Best way to make a child willing to go to bed? Bedtime stories! Summary of the Hansel and Gretel Story  One of the most famous bedtime stories of all time is the Hansel and Gretel story.

The simplest version is about a pair of siblings called Hansel and Gretel who are abandoned in the woods. Their father was a poor woodcutter, and it was tough getting through the winter so, their parents made the decision to drop the children in the forest. Hansel had dropped pebbles on their way to the woods and so Hansel and Gretel found their way back home following the pebbles. The next day they are taken to the woods again but since Hansel could not get his hands on pebbles, he drops breadcrumbs instead. But the crumbs all get eaten by the birds! And so, the pair of siblings get lost in the forest.

Finally, wandering around, they found a beautiful house made of gingerbread and candies! Hungry Hansel and Gretel nibbled on the rooftop when an old lady who was the owner of the house opened the door. She kindly invited them inside, but little did the children know she was a witch who planned to eat them and was just luring them into her trap.

 After they entered her beautiful house, Hansel was thrown into a cage, and Gretel was made into a slave. On the day the witch planned to bake Hansel, Gretel tricked the witch into checking the burning oven and pushed her in, and quickly closed the oven door. She helped her brother Hansel out of the cage and then they quickly escaped the gingerbread house, carrying the witch’s jewels and food. They are finally able to return home and present their parents with the jewels, and so, their parents welcome them back home happily.

The Moral Learned  There are a lot of lessons in the Hansel and Gretel Story, one of them being stranger danger. The witch seemed nice on the surface and invited them inside her pretty gingerbread house but her motive in doing so proved to be dangerous for the children. The story teaches children not to trust strangers even if they seem nice. It also teaches the children to be clever and never lose hope as in the end Hansel and Gretel were able to come back home with the help of their wit.

The Bottom Line  The morals we learn as a child stays as a base for our entire lifetime hence, making sure a child understands the morals at the end of the story is essential for their growth.
