February/March 2014 A Message From Good News Press Good News Press is an outreach publication. The Christian message is often referred to as the "Gospel," which means "good news." Specifically, it is the good news about Jesus—who He is, what He has done, and what He offers. Essentially, the message is that Jesus was God in the flesh, that He came into the world to reconcile humanity to Himself, and that his salvation is freely offered to each person who will respond in faith. The Gospel message explains that salvation is only possible through the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. Through his sacrifice, Jesus paid the price for our sinfulness (rebellion against God), thus offering us forgiveness. Then through his Resurrection He conquered death, removing it as the penalty for our sin and replacing it with the offer of eternal life that is only available from Him to all those that place their faith in Him.

Marriage Must be Part of Poverty/Income Inequality Debate - National Marriage Week Feb. 7-14, 2014 -- This week a FOX News commentary by National Marriage Week USA (February 7-14) makes the case that marriage must be part of the current political debate about income inequality and how to reduce poverty. (www.nationalmarriageweekusa.org/fo x20140122) "Today 53% of all babies born to women under age-30, are born out-

side of marriage," said Sheila Weber, executive director of National Marriage Week USA (www.nationalmarriageweekusa.org). "If we had the marriage rates today that we had in 1970, we'd have 25% less poverty." "The decline of marriage is our most neglected national emergency," says Weber. "Yet the wealthy are doing a

better job at keeping marriages intact and their children are benefitting from the influence of both male and female parenting influence and from enriching educational habits in those homes." "We must find ways to help impoverished single mothers learn more about how to enrich their own home life; and despite their current circumstances, to give their own children a vision See National Marriage Week Page 7

http://beheardproject.com/saeed (Story below from website above) Please sign the petition online at the website and pray for him. Saeed Abedini, a 33-year-old Pastor, father, and husband from Idaho, is currently imprisoned in Evin Prison in Tehran, Iran. On 28 July 2012, during a visit to Tehran to visit family and to finalize the board members for an orphanage he was building in Iran, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard detained Saeed, asserting that he must face criminal charges for his Christian faith. After intense interrogations, Saeed was placed under house arrest and told to wait for a court summons. On 26 September 2012, instead of receiving a summons telling him where to appear, five members of the Revolutionary Guard raided Saeed’s parents’ home in Tehran, confiscated many of Saeed’s belongings, and took him to an unknown location. After four days the Revolutionary Guard informed the family that Saeed was in solitary confinement in the notorious Evin Prison…... More of his story at website above.

Are You A Doer of the Word? By Mark & Tinsley Baker When you are born again, you become a new creature. Old things are passed away and all things have become new. You are new, your spirit has been recreated in the image of God. God’s nature dwells in you. God’s nature is love. If God’s nature dwells in you, then you are full of the love of God! We should walk in that love, everyday! However, there is more to being a Christian, than going around loving everyone. We are to do the commandments of the Lord. James 1:22-25: "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does." James is writing to believers in this letter, not unsaved people. He is telling them to be blessed, they must do what the Word, God’s Word, says. Yes, we must walk in love toward everyone, our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as our enemies. Yet, we have to do so much more. Let’s look at what God said to Joshua when he took over the leadership of Israel, after the death of Moses. Joshua 1:8: "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Are you studying God’s Word? Is it a priority in your life. Do you read it daily and meditate on, think about, what you have read? Are you speaking God’s Word in your life? Remember, God tells Joshua the Word shall not depart

from his mouth, as well as telling him to meditate in it day and night, He is to speak scriptures to himself, to remind him what the Word says. Jesus says in Luke 6:46, that we are to keep his commandments if we love Him. Is God first in your life, or is your job, your family, your car, money Pastor Saeed Abedini - the things you worship? One way to tell what you actually worship ( whether it is a good or bad worship) is to look at your life. What do you think about, talk about or worry about. If it is not God, then you need to reorganize your thinking. God and His Word should be first in your life. The wonderful working of Jesus at Calvary should be first in your life. Matthew 6:31-33: ""Therefore do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." When you are obedient to God, He will bless you. It is as simple as that. Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." 1 Peter 5:7: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." Are you trusting in God with all your heart, are you casting your cares ( worries, concerns) on Him? Or are you praying "Oh God help me, I can’t make it another day, if You don’t do something." Understand this! God has done all He can for you! He gave His only Son to die in your place. With that death, He purchased a new life for you. A life full of God’s answers! You need to study the Word and find those answers and then claim them for yourself! Romans 8:14: " For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." When you were saved, you became a child of God! This means you have the rights and responsibility of any member of a family. It is up to you to take advantage of these rights. How do I do that? Go back to what God told Joshua, read the Word, meditate on it and don’t let it depart from your mouth. Let me ask you something - are you looking at your life and your problems from the world’s view or God’s view? Are you saying the world’s answers or

Good News Press - 3 Doer of the Word Cont’d from Page 2 God’s answers? To trust completely in God and to lean not on your own wisdom and experience means looking at God’s way - not your way! His way may not seem logical or natural, but Praise God that’s what it is all about! The way of the spirit, the way of God, not the way of nature or reason! "Well, I tried that once and it didn’t work." Can you hear yourself saying this? There are several problems with this: You tried. The truth is, you were tried by the Word of God. We have all been there. We need to learn from our failures as well as our successes, and then hopefully we won’t have as many failures . Romans 10:17: "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ." You hear the Word, the Will or commandments of God and you act in faith and do them, not try them!

Hebrews 11:1: "What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead ."

and not God’s! The prophet Isaiah tells us that God’s ways are not our ways. Your ways are controlled by the world. And who is the god of this world Satan, not God. So if you think God should answer your problems your way, then you are asking God to do something in a way that is impossible for Him to do.

The Revised Standard Translation of this verse says "NOW FAITH". Now Faith! 3.You did not pray correctly. Good News Press - 6 Does Healing Belong To Us? By Mark and Tinsley Baker –Olive Branch Ministries The question that many Christians have today is, does healing belong to us as it did to the early church? There are 3 basic beliefs on the subject of healing in the modern Christian church. Many believe healing has been done away with, that it was only for the early church and not for us today. This is probably the most wide spread belief. Many believe God does heal as He sees fit, or by some special divine act, or some special faith. The last basic group believes healing belongs to us as part of the atonement of Christ in the redemptive plan of God, along with the remission of sins. These are the 3 main attitudes toward healing in the body of Christ today. The question becomes if the 3rd is right, how could the 2nd be right as well? Many Christians have received divine healing or know someone who did, if this is true, why is not healing a part of the completed work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Does God play favorites? Does He heal based on His whim? Or is He truly no respecter of Persons as His Word says He is? Is He truly the same yesterday today and forever?

6. The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. Even in the Old Testament we see that His benefits include both forgiveness and healing.

As we have seen oppression is of the devil, and Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil didn’t He? Jesus came to destroy sin and Jesus came to destroy oppression which is a result of sin. They had to partake didn’t they, He offered it to them, but they had to partake of it. He told them to partake. It is God's will that we partake. That is something He will not do for us. Later Peter looking back at Calvary said in; 1 Peter 2:24. who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes you were healed. Peter was quoting Isaiah the 53rd chapter. If you will get a concordance and look at the Hebrew you will see this was talking about physical healing. It is not my purpose to place condemnation on anyone who is sick, God forbid. My purpose is to encourage people to reach out and receive for themselves. Jesus did not come to condemn the world but that through Him we might have life and have it more abundantly. I want people to look these things up for themselves, and see what the Word of God has to say on this subject. I have seen God's healing power work in me and that of my family and others as well. I could share many marvelous testimonies of healing. Testimonies can encourage, but our faith has to be based on what God's Word says, not on someone's testimony. Let's look on… Romans 6:14. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Thank God for His grace. According to God’s Word, we are saved by grace, and by grace we can defeat the devil. As a matter of fact we are told to resist the devil. James 4:6. But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but

Good News Press - 7 National Marriage Week Cont’d from Page 1 "We must find ways to help impoverished single mothers learn more about how to enrich their own home life; and despite their current circumstances, to give their own children a vision that marriage can be in their future aspirations, because marriage brings greater financial stability, better health, and brings the greatest advantageous way to in turn raise their own children," says Weber. "We need for ministries, non-profits, schools and churches to find ways to serve fatherless boys, who may not be getting any messages that marriage can

even be an attainable goal for them. The pendulum has swung too far away from the historical cultural norm of dutiful manhood; we need a radical change of message, thinking and habits to raise the next generation of young men. Of course, women also need some new messages -- that forestalling sexual intimacy and childbearing until marriage provides them a healthier future and is best for their children," said Weber. State of Abortion Cont’d from Page 1 "While the most recent data indicate a decrease in the annual number of abortions, tragically, more than 3,000 unborn children are still killed every day in the United States under the legal doctrine of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton," said National Right to Life President Carol Tobias. "As we observe the 41st anniversary of the twin decisions that legalized abortion in America, the pro-life movement remains committed to restoring legal protection to unborn children and providing help and support to their mothers."

abortions can be traced to prolife legislative efforts at the state and federal level that have raised awareness about the humanity of the unborn child These laws not only encourage life-affirming alternatives to abortion, they seek to inform and empower women facing unexpected pregnancy.

"Laws enacted at the federal and state levels have helped immensely in reversing the disturbing trend established by Roe and Doe," observed Tobias. "As just one example, it is estimated that the Hyde Amendment, which As noted in the report, on the prevents the use of taxpayer dolbasis of the most recent reports lars to fund abortions in the Medifrom the U.S. Centers for Disease caid program, has saved well over Control and by the Guttmacher one million unborn children since Institute (originally founded as a it was first enacted in 1976." special research arm of the Planned Parenthood Federation of The report also discusses NationAmerica), National Right to Life al Right to Life's major legislative estimates that there have been priority, the Pain-Capable Unborn more than 56 million abortions in Child Protection Act. NRLC model legislation has now been enacted in 10 states. In addition, a federal version of the bill has been introduced, and National Right to Life has declared it to be the organization’s top legislative priority for the current Congress. "Abortion remains widely available. But after years of being told that abortion was 'the best choice' or 'their only choice,' women are learning that there are alternatives to abortion that affirm their lives and the lives of their children," added Tobias. "The bottom line is simple: the right-to-life movement is succeeding because even after 41 years and more than 56 million abortions, the conscience of our nation knows that killing unborn children is wrong." The report is available from the National Right to Life Communications Department here: www.nrlc.org/communications/sta teofabortion Founded in 1968, National Right to Life, the federation of 50 state rightto-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. (Jn.6:37), So I know You won’t cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13). I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, "…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. We see that healing and the forgiveness go hand in hand. I'm not here to start an argument, but to start an encouragement. I know that's not proper grammar, but I hope you take my point. Jesus forgave the mans sins, and then to prove it, He Healed him. You will notice the result was that people glorified God.
