I Don’t Look

by Judi Marvin

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

— Matthew 5:1-12 “The Beatitudes” As Christians, the Word of God is our lifeline; and aside from the Holy Spirit and prayer, it is our primary connection to Jesus, and our Father. It is so powerful, so personal. It is as if the Lord takes our hand in His, and through His Spirit guides us through the pages, tenderly opening our spiritual eyes and heart to understand not only His plan for us, but Who He is. It is His intimate love letter to us.

No matter what hardships and heartbreaks we endure throughout our lives, if we humbly submit ourselves under His authority, under His protection, He is faithful ALWAYS to bring us through!

If you are dwelling daily in His Spirit, you must discern the darkness that is swiftly engulfing our society, our planet. The depravity of our entertainment industry, the attack on

our families and church, the mocking of Christ, and the assault on our innocent children through abortion, sextrafficking, pornography, and the gender confusion that is constantly being thrust upon them. It is no wonder we find ourselves often grieved and discouraged.

As for myself, the only peace, security, and comfort I gain comes from time spent with my Lord, either in prayer, reading His Word, or just having conversations with Him. It may sound strange, but I often simply “talk” to Him. I know He is always listening, and it draws us closer together.

God’s Word restores and refreshes your soul, your spirit. It brings you great strength and endurance to continue on in this ever-declining world. These words are not just a story, but “HIS” story. They are very personal. The Beatitudes above, are just a small example of the beautiful language God speaks to us through His Word.

Therefore, be encouraged…and be blessed! These words are your lifeline until His soon return to take us home
