Run To Jesus

by Cindy Franks

If ever there was a time people needed a place to run to, it is today. It seems everywhere you turn, including the news, there is much despair. Statistics report that there are 123 suicides every day due to people’s feeling hopeless and having nowhere to turn. When hope is missing in a person’s life, it is often replaced by something other than God; many replace true hope with drugs, alcohol, relationships, and

other means to fulfill their deepest need, only to find themselves in deeper despair. The truth is, there is no hope outside of Jesus Christ.

The Bible clearly teaches that even if things look hopeless, there is always hope in God. Jeremiah states in chapter 17:17, “Thou art my hope in the day of evil.” Proverbs says, “The name of The Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” There is a safe place as believers we can run to, and it is to Jesus! My most favorite and life verse is Isaiah 61:1-3,

which says: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.” In other words, Jesus wants you to know the good news: He has come to heal your brokenhearted, to set you free from whatever may have you bound, to give you beauty for ashes, to remove that spirit of heaviness, and to give you a garment of praise. It is what He came for: to seek and save those who are lost, to be hope to the hopeless, and to be rest for the weary! As Isaiah said in 40:28b-31, “The Lord faitheth not, neither is He weary. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” So, if you find yourself in despair, run to Jesus!
