What began with a germ of an idea for raising money for the much-loved RNLI, quickly grew into a fantastic event and fun-filled fortnight in October 2017.

PENARTH FASHION WEEK There has been much coverage in Vale Life, and its sister publication City Life Cardiff, and on our websites and social media about how successful the events were, mainly because of the support of local businesses and the public who put their hands in their pockets to ensure each event was a sell out. Thanks must also go to event sponsors Valco Scaffolding and Beverly Davies Penny, Events Room 11, and C3i. When asked why they sponsored the event, here’s what they had to say. “Having lived in Penarth all my life, spending my youth swimming in the sea, walking in the mud flats by the Dock beach, playing in the sand pools at low tide by Lavernock Point and camping on Sully Island, I count myself very lucky that I have never had to ask for help from Penarth RNLI, as I understand their importance, it was a no brainer for me to support the events.” Peter Walker, Valco Scaffolding “My husband is crew so, selfishly, I want him to have the best possible equipment should he find himself involved in a dangerous rescue situation. But the RNLI also provide an invaluable service and an important hub for our community.” Nicola Penny, Beverly Davies Penny

“Events@room 11 were happy and excited to support the Penarth RNLI Fashion Week fundraiser. We believe the RNLI provide an essential service for the people of Penarth and surrounding areas. It was an honour to be involved and support the volunteers who give up their time and risk their lives for their community. Beverley Williams, Room 11 Jason Hall, Managing Director of C3i Group, whose company provides digital support services to large scale events, was keen to support the RNLI as one of his employees volunteers as a crew member for the Charity. Jason is an ex-marine with an affinity for the sea and appreciation of rescue scenarios, so when the opportunity came up to support Penarth RNLI by transforming the Lifeboat Station into a Fashion House and Fine Dining Restaurant Jason willingly and very generously provided all the staging, lighting, sound and technicians to create the transformation and run the event. We mustn’t forget the talented teams at Blu Hair Design whose creative juices certainly wowed for both the models at the Gingers fashion show and for The Queen B models at the Lifeboat Station fashion show. 48

We were very lucky to secure the make-up skills of the talented Allison Sing, owner of Hair Or Make Up, and her colleagues Lucy Lightfoot and Jane Tyler, as their hectic schedules include Doctor Who, This Morning and more recently Star Wars. The ladies worked all day and into the evenings making sure the models looked their best.
