Lunch raises £21,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre Hugh James Solicitors recently hosted a rugby lunch at the Millennium Stadium, raising more than £21,000 in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre.

The lunch was organised as part of a year of fundraising activity Hugh James is undertaking for Velindre which culminates in the East Coast Bike Challenge in September. Matthew Tossell, Andrew Harding and Joe Purcell, all from Hugh James, will be cycling 550km from Boston to New York along with 50 other riders who are all raising vital funds for Velindre. More than 250 representatives from South Wales’s top businesses attended the lunch to hear from former Welsh rugby internationals Robert Jones and Huw Bennett reflect on this year’s Six Nations tournament. Wales and British & Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton was a late withdrawal from the panel, undergoing surgery on his damaged shoulder, but was ably replaced by Ospreys and Wales prop Ryan Bevington who was able to give a fascinating insight in to life in the Wales camp. The players were quizzed by Western Mail columnist Carolyn Hitt, who compèred a question and answer session.
