If you’re a fan of The Penny Farthing, Cowbridge, you’ll already know you can drop in for breakfast, coffee, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea seven days a week, including bank holidays, but now the team are excited to announce…

We caught up with Mohammed to find out a little more about their evening aspirations. Why are you opening in the evenings? Customers keep asking me why are you not open in the evening? So, we’’ll try it! As well as our monthly theme nights, we’ll be opening as an a la carte restaurant Friday and Saturday evenings from September! We will be open from 6pm to 9.30pm, and are taking bookings from now, including for large tables, and the run up to Christmas - is it too soon to mention Christmas? What will the offering be? The focus for the evening menu will be on simple, fresh food, with grilled steaks, fish, seafood and vegetables,

including cauliflower steaks. Our fish will be supplied by Ashton Fishmongers, and meat will be sourced from Barratts Fine Meats, a butcher’s shop in Rhoose sourcing their meats from across the Vale of Glamorgan for forty years.

And what about drinks? Carefully selected wines (from Fine Wines Direct) and hand-crafted cocktails (think Whiskey Sour or French 75) will be a big feature! We’re proud of our customer service and will always try to source any particular wines or seafood, for example, that you might be hoping to find - if it’s not on our menu, just ask. And the ambience? A warm, cosy atmosphere, twinkling candlelight, delicious 52

home-cooked food. The Penny Farthing has long been established as a good food restaurant, but in recent years has only been open in the daytime, other than for theme nights and private events.

So you’ll still be available for private bookings… Yes, throughout the week, and during our evening openings on Fridays and Saturdays, we’d be delighted to accommodate individual and group bookings - just let us know your requirements in advance. Our vision is for a restaurant that offers reasonably priced, healthy food to be enjoyed with friends and family.
