油 尖 旺 區 是 香 港 十 八 區 面 積 最 小 的 一 區， 卻 是 麻 雀 雖 小，五臟俱全，歷經多年發展的演化，自成其獨具一格 的地區特色。

By size, Yau Tsim Mong is perhaps the smallest among the 18 districts of Hong Kong, but also one rich in culture and history.

在新舊交替、多元文化匯集的背景下，當區的小店盛載 著豐富的人情，反映著這片九龍半島上的土地百載所歷 的滄海桑田、生生不息的社區經濟生命力，以及街坊鄰 里的生活日常。

A place where the old and the new converge and different cultures intersect, Yau Tsim Mong has developed a character of i t s o w n . A s t h e b a c k b o n e of t h e c o m m u n i t y, l o c a l small shops bear the neighbourhood's distinctive mark .

Together they form a repositor y of stories, capturing the transformation of the Kowloon Peninsula, the dynamics of the local economy, and everyday lives in the neighbourhood.

關於「攪掂！小店創意實驗室＠油尖旺」 Small Shops Cre-Action lab @ Yau Tsim Mong 「攪掂！小店創意實驗室＠油尖旺」旨在發揮小店在社區中的獨特角色， 連結鄰里，引領參加者以創意和行動力與小店合作，一起為社區攪攪新 意思。 在為期兩個月的歷程中，社區共創員先後經歷「共學」、「共想」、「共 創」三個階段。從嘉賓講者的專題探討和經驗分享中取經，並親身走訪 區內大街小巷，深入了解區內蘊藏的文化和生活面貌，與小店及其他社 區成員組成實驗夥伴，共同創想構思。隨後，在社會創新同行者與社區 協作伙伴的支持下，實踐創意小行動。

The co-creation journey comprises three main phases: co-learning, coideation, and co-creation. From guest sharing to community tours to local shops, our programme's co-creators were guided to read more deeply into the cultural and urban landscape of Yau Tsim Mong. Then, based on the insights gained, they partnered with local shops to brainstorm ideas and translate them into creative actions with support from social innovation mentors.

油尖旺是香港最多非華裔人口聚居的地區之一，其中尼泊爾裔、印度裔、巴 基斯坦裔居民為多。這與昔日的軍營位處油尖旺有關，回歸後不少退役軍人 和後代都在附近定居。區內除了有小聯合國之稱的重慶大廈外，在佐敦炮台 街、廟街一帶亦聚集不同族裔的小店，多元文化共冶一爐，充滿活力。

油尖旺在十九世紀末起經歷急速發展，見證著九龍半島的變幻。至今我們仍可以在 區內的老字號找到歲月的痕跡。這些老字號多是經營傳統手工行業，世代承傳著民 間智慧與工藝。然而，在時代變遷和城市發展的巨輪下，近年老字號正在逐漸消失， 也引領更多人關注和行動去保育這些城中珍寶。

油尖旺區的租金普遍較為昂貴，為減輕經營成本，懷着創業夢的年青一代不少會選 擇在區內的橫街小巷、舊式商場，或商廈樓上舖設店。在渡船角、官涌街一帶近年 有不少別具特色的文創小店進駐，其中以咖啡店及手工藝品店為主，為原本平靜的 民生社區加添一種悠閒、慢活的氛圍，文創商圈正漸漸成形。

Yau Tsim Mong is home to one of the city's largest non-Chinese communities – mainly of Nepali, Indian and Pakistani ethnicity. Much of this community were descendants of the retired servicemen who used to serve in the barracks in the district and have now taken root in the neighbourhood. The district's cultural diversity is perhaps best experienced on the streets: you have the Chungking Mansions, a.k.a Hong Kong's mini United Nations on the one end, and lines of multicultural shops on the other along Battery Street and Temple Street.

Since the 19th century, Yau Tsim Mong has seen rapid development. Witnessing the great change are the old artisan shops still adorning its streets and alleys. They bear testimony to the passing of time, stand as a visible proof of local artistry and true craftsmanship. However, with more development projects in the pipeline, they are on the verge of demise. Fortunately, the dwindling numbers of old shops also raised greater awareness and catalysed actions in the preservation of the cultural heritage in the city.

The Yau Tsim Mong district has been notorious for its high rent. But that does not stop budding entrepreneurs from settling in its old malls, on the upper floors of commercial buildings, branching off into narrow side streets where rent is relatively affordable.

The area around Ferry Point and Kwun Chung Street is the new spot that has seen the emergence of independent cultural and creative shops, most of which specialise in coffee and handicrafts. Together, they form a creative community that typifies the slowliving lifestyle in and around the neighbourhood.

寶靈商場 Tucked into a corner at the intersection of Bowring Street and Woosung Street, Bowring Commercial Centre conjures nostalgia for the old Hong Kong. Home to a cluster of small businesses, this two-storey, old-fashioned shopping mall is frequented by "Kai-fongs" (local residents) looking to tailor their clothes, and the Nepali ladies in search of handmade t r a d i t i o n a l a t t i r e s f o r t h e i r f e s t i va l s a n d celebrations.

踏上寶靈商場二樓，放眼望 去，整列尼泊爾小店，一片 異國風情，難怪這裡有「小 重慶」之稱。落戶寶靈商場 八年，Nimisha 店主 Hema 與其他商戶非常熟絡，常互 相介紹生意，分享食物。每 逢佳節或婚禮，不少尼泊爾 婦女都請 Hema 訂造釘滿珠 片的華麗民族服飾，以見證 人生中的大日子。

SHANGHAI STREET & RECLAMATION STREET

從 上 海 街 往 新 填 地 街 走 去， 你可用腳感受海岸線自 1880 年代隨填海工程逐步向外延 伸 的 步 伐。 這 裡 曾 是 九 龍 半 島最暢旺的地方，車水馬龍， 店 舖 林 立， 人 流 絡 繹。 至 今 上海街一帶仍是老字號屹立 之 地， 許 多 都 是 碩 果 僅 存 只 此一家。

Dubbed the "Mini Chungking Mansions", Bowring Commercial Centre is a haven for Nepali businesses. One of them is Nimisha Trading Company, a mainstay of the mall for almost a decade. Together with other shops, t h e y f o r m a t i g h t- k n i t t e d c o m m u n i t y i n Bowring, sharing food and business referrals.

Its owner, Hema, has been tailoring sequin embellished Nepali costumes for countless Nepali ladies as they celebrate traditional Nepali festivals or enter a new chapter in life.

Manakamana is named after a Hindu temple in the Himalayas, dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati in Nepal. Located behind the market stalls of Temple Street, this little diner ser ves an extensive range of authentic and traditional Nepali dishes, including curries with mutton, chicken or fish, vegetable pickles and momo dumplings.

Reclamation Street

A walk from Shanghai Street to Reclamation Street, one would find traces of the changed coastline in Yau Ma Tei – a result of a wave of reclamation work in the area in the 19th century. Eclectic, vivacious and teemed with shops, these streets were the arteries of the Kowloon Peninsula. Today, one can still catch a glimpse of this bygone time from the small shops on the street. These shops have withstood the test of time, selling crafts that are perhaps only available in this area.

８ 夢娜尼泊爾餐廳 Manakamana Nepali Restaurant 夢娜尼泊爾餐廳以一座 位 於 喜 馬 拉 雅 山 脈， 供 奉女神巴格瓦蒂的寺廟 「Manakamana」 命 名。 這個置身於廟街攤檔後的小 餐館，提供各式各樣的尼泊 爾 傳 統 特 色 小 菜， 包 括 羊 肉、雞肉及魚肉咖哩、醃漬 蔬菜及 momo 餃子。

早在上世紀二十年代開業的泗祥號，專 營 木 造 船 舶 用 品， 以 手 製 律 囉（ 船 隻 上 落貨用的滑輪）起家。油麻地避風塘如 今已變成繁囂大道，無阻泗祥號四代傳 人 何 國 標 師 傅 Louis 繼 續 發 揮 匠 人 精 神 將工藝活用在各式木器，諸如木槌和按 摩器，熱心與社區分享寶號背後的故事。

上 海 街、 石 龍 街 交 界 街 角， 一 個 倚 著 大 廈 外 牆 的 小 鐵 皮 橫 門 檔， 是 店 主 何 太的爸爸早在 1930 年代落戶之處。昔 日上海街戶戶做生意都要用秤，藥秤、 魚 秤、 味 秤， 至 今 仍 掛 滿 牆 身， 每 一 個都是手工心血。斤、兩、錢、分、厘， 非常均真。

Established in the 1920s, Sze Cheung Workshop made its name selling handmade wooden pulleys for the loading of goods on and off the boats. At the time, the Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter was just a short hop away. Today, the harbourfront has turned into thoroughfares. The cityscape has changed, and Sze Cheung's products diversified, but what remains constant is the craftsmanship that goes into each piece of woodwork. At the helm of Sze Cheung is its four th-generation owner, Louis Ho, who continues to tell a story of changing era through his crafts and his family-run store.

At the corner of Shanghai Street and Shek Lung Street sits Lee Wo Steelyard – an inconspicuous tin-sheeted stall selling traditional Chinese weighing scales. Since the 1930s, when Mrs Ho's father first set foot in the area, it has suppor ted the neighbourhood's businesses – fish vendors, Chinese medicine doctors, and many more with its handmade measuring devices. Still gracing the interior of the stall, these scales are made to last for a lifetime – each marking Mrs Ho's lifetime of dedication to her trade.

在佐敦站出現以前，人們稱這片 區域為官涌，以昔日在此地拔起 的一座小山「官涌山」命名。林 則徐曾在這裡設過炮台，跟英軍 交戰，後來小山被夷平填海，成 了油麻地避風塘的防波隄。昔日 的戰場亦變成現在安靜的街區， 點綴著幾家精緻的咖啡廳。

17 Colour Brown Coffee

Long before the name "Jordan" was introduced and the MTR station came into the scene, Kwun Chung Street was a river valley named after its namesake hill. A military defence site, the hill had seen artillery batteries set up and battles fought between the British and Chinese troops in a conflict known as the Battle of Kwun Chung. In later years, however, it was flattened to make way for rapid development and reclamation. Along with the remnants of the warfares, it dissolved to be part of the Yau Ma Tei Typhoon Shelter.

A battlefield then has become a tranquil street dotted with dainty coffee shops.

除了售賣手沖咖啡及輕食，店內更像是一個以 咖啡為主題的小型展覽館，各種咖啡儀器及配 件包羅萬有，是咖啡愛好者常到的交流場所。 由舊址西貢遷到佐敦，店主希望可以與社區建 立良好的鄰里關係，使咖啡店成為鬧市中的生 活場所。店主亦經常借出場地予非牟利組織及 藝術團體舉辦展覽，藉著咖啡連結社區。 A tried-and-true favourite amongst coffee lovers, Colour Brown Coffee makes an ideal place for catching up with friends while enjoying a cup of hand-brewed coffee and light bites. With its space filled with brewing equipment and parts, it looks more like a showroom of all things coffee.

Relocating his shop from Sai Kung to Jordan, the owner hopes that the cafe could be a hub where neighbours can connect and relax amidst the hustle and bustle. When he is not selling coffee, he generously shares his space with non-profits and art organisations for exhibition.

天后廟 1876 年落戶現址，廟前 廣場的幾棵大榕樹下便成為街坊 們聚集之處。入夜後更是熱鬧， 是各路人馬擺攤、表演賣藝、說 書講故、卜卦算命之地。至今廟 街夜市仍延續著榕樹頭的平民夜 生活風景。

Built by local fishermen and relocated to its current location in 1876, Tin Hau Temple is enclosed in a courtyard shaded by banyan trees, well known as "Yung Shue Tau". An oasis of serenity and a relaxing gathering place by day, by night it converts into a bustling market with fortune-tellers, street performers and makeshift stalls selling souvenirs and sundries – recreating the nightlife scene of the good old days.

百老匯電影中心 Broadway Cinematheque

百老匯電影中心是許多獨立電影發燒友 的常到之處。事實上，乘著榕樹頭連帶 娛樂事業興旺，油麻地從前就是電影院 集中地—廣智、大華、平安、光明、普 慶、金華等多不勝數，至今仍為老街坊 津津樂道，除了原建築被保留下來的油 麻地戲院現在是戲曲活動中心外，前身 是普慶戲院的逸東酒店亦已成為彌敦道 上一道新的文化風景。

Old artisan shops in our neighbourhood are quickly disappearing. Many found themselves falling out of fashion, overtaken by changing times and policies.

Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market began life as a neighbourhood marketplace in the early 20th century, and gradually developed into a wholesale market selling seasonal produce, poultry, and seafood fresh off the boats from the nearby dock. Back then, fruits were just a fraction of the cornucopia of goods the market had to offer. In the 60s, poultry and vegetable vendors relocated, but fruit retailers stayed. Now, with more than 200 fruit stalls in operation, the market has solidified its reputation as the largest wholesale fruit market in the city.

Broadway Cinematheque has amassed religious groups of arthouse lovers since its founding in the 90s. But Yau Ma Tei's love affair with the silver screens goes way back.

Benefiting from the entertainment activities around Yung Shue Tau, theatres flourished in the neighbourhood. Kwong Chee, Majestic, Alhambra, Kwong Ming, Astor and Kam Wah were some of the well-loved names. Most of them have now closed, but the memories play on – the Yau Ma Tei Theatre has been renovated into a Cantonese opera theatre in keeping with its original design; Eaton HK, formerly the Astor Theatre, also makes a significant addition to the local cultural scene.

油尖旺多元文化活動中心座落炮台街，亦標誌著附 近街區多元文化共冶一爐。南亞理髮店與街坊髮廊 隔路相望，尼泊爾金飾行與華人玉器行相映成趣， 南亞菜餐館與地道茶餐廳只是數步之遙。 Nowhere is more emblematic of the cultural diversity of Yau Tsim Mong than the neighbourhood where Yau Tsim Mong Multicultural Activity Centre is located.

There, you will find South Asian barber shops right across the street from Hong Kong hair salons; Nepali jeweller y shops and Chinese jade stores standing a l o n g s i d e e a c h o t h e r ; a n d " C h a C h a a n Te n g " (Hong Kong-style diner) just a few steps away from restaurants serving South Asian cuisine.

Use d to b e a ston e's throw a wa y from the fe rr y p i e r connecting Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, Eight Man Buildings at Ferry Point was best known for its panoramic waterfront view. Today, the coastline has advanced, and ferr y whistles receded. Once a major node of the city's transportation network, Ferry Point has transformed into a cosy neighbourhood, welcoming hipster cafes and handicraft shops that breathe new life into the community.

Is it the Chinese herbal medicine shops and hardware stores that have stood witness to decades of change in the neighbourhood? Or the independent bookstores and cafes that have popped up in recent years? Or perhaps, it's the unlikely mixture of both that have made Jordan so unique.

這裡曾是九龍過海的渡輪碼頭所在，一旁有八文樓之稱 的文華花園坐擁無敵大海景，居民們在小輪的汽笛聲中 生活。如今船去樓仍在，昔日的交通樞紐，漸成偏安一 隅的小社區。近年有不少咖啡店和文創小店進駐開業， 又為渡船角帶來一番新氣象。

This exhibition celebrates the diversity and stories of the independent shops and people t h a t m a ke u p t h e J o rd a n c o m m u n i t y. I t showcases a collection of artwork that draws inspiration from the neighbourhood and is made of materials sourced from local small shops. Come to our exhibition to rediscover the many facets of Jordan, and hear stories about the people, shops and culture!

油麻地果欄

擁 臨 海 之 利， 早 在 20 世 紀 初 油 麻 地已有墟市聚集，各類鮮貨販商落 戶街區，漸發展成兼營各類鮮貨批 發 的 九 龍 果 菜 批 發 市 場， 至 60 年 代雞欄和菜欄遷走後，餘下專營水 果批發的欄商。果欄至今仍為香港 最大的鮮果集散地。
