BIDDING FAREWELL TO
2016
Contributed report
A look back at the people and events that shaped our lives this year By Roslyn Ryan Editor
N
early one full year after welcoming 2016, Goochland has seen plenty of changes. This year alone, residents have said a sad goodbye to one county administrator and embraced a new one, repeated the process with the superintendant of schools, and embarked on numerous efforts to enhance and protect the county’s natural beauty. We celebrated an Olympian, embraced solar energy and stepped up to help those facing hunger. We came out for Trump and against several development projects, and even kicked off an effort to make life better for the county’s shelter animals. Without further ado, here are just a few of the things Goochlanders were talking about this year… File photos

Reynolds Community College will host Preview Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 7, in the Lipman Auditorium of the Massey Library and Technology Center on the college’s Parham Road Campus (1651 E. Students will also have the opportunity to speak with university transfer admissions specialists about transferring from Reynolds to a four-year institution. The four-year college representatives at Preview Day will serve on a panel and later speak with students directly about the transfer process to their prospective institutions. Reynolds registration for the 2017 spring semester is currently open through the start of classes on Jan. 9, and students can register 24 see Reynolds > 2
