Developer withdraws request for Centerville rezoning Subdivision plan had drawn fire from residents worried about road safety By Roslyn Ryan Editor
A rezoning request that had drawn strong criticism from residents living near the intersection of Rockville and Manakin roads has been officially withdrawn, effectively handing a win — at least for now — to those who argued the project would have negatively impacted public safety. Wilton Acquisitions, LLC, had been seeking a rezoning classification from Agriculture, Limited (A2) and Residential, Limited (R-1) to Residential, Plan Unit Development (RPUD) to pave the way for a development of 191 single family homes on 98 acres. The property has frontage on Rockville and Manakin roads, and residents living nearby argued that the increased traffic burden created by the project would pose a significant safety threat in an area that is already dangerous. see Rezoning > 11

y the time the sun sets on Thursday, March 31, Goochland County Administrator Rebecca Dickson will have officially retired from the position she has held for the last six years.
She will have no more packets to prepare for monthly Goochland County Board of Supervisors’ meetings, no phone calls to return, no budget line items to examine. But while county business will no longer take up the lion’s share of her time, Dickson still has plenty of see Dickson > 3

April race will benefit Virginians impacted by tornado County residents have taken the top spots in recent years By Roslyn Ryan Editor
An upcoming area race will offer Goochland runners a chance to help fellow Virginians still struggling to recover after a devastating tornado tore through Waverly and Appomattox in February. The fifth annual Second Chance 5K Mission Race will be held on Saturday, April 16, in Cartersville and promises to draw runners from all over Central Virginia. In three out of the past four years, Goochland residents have taken the overall male winner title home. While the event has traditionally been held to raise funds for Team Nicaragua of Cartersville Baptist Church, this year organizers will donate half of the money raised to victims of the Feb. 24 tornado that claimed four lives and left behind a nine-mile path of devastation . The race will be held in the historic, quaint Cartersville village with see Race > 2
