Cell tower application withdrawn County Planning Commission had voted against the measure last year By Roslyn Ryan Editor

A controversial request to build a 199-foot cell tower on Millers Lane in Mankin-Sabot was pulled last Thursday, less than a week before the applicant was expected to appear before the Goochland County Board of Supervisors. The application, which was filed by Virginia-based Pegasus Tower Company in September, was met with significant opposition from residents of the area where it was to be located. Though the topic was not on the agenda for the January supervisors’s meeting, more than half dozen residents made use of the public comment period to voice concerns over everything from the impact the tower would have had on their property values to the safety of placing such a structure in a residential area. The Planning Commission voted against approving the application in November, and supervisors were scheduled to discuss the subject on Dec. 2. Pegasus, however, requested a deferral until the February meeting. Now that the company has decided not to go forward, “the process is essentially done,” said Deputy County Administrator for Community see Tower > 3
