Supervisors hear TCSD bond refunding proposal By Ken Odor jodor@goochlandgazette.com

Goochland’s supervisors heard some good news last night, as County Administrator Rebecca Dickson unveiled a plan to restructure the Tuckahoe Creek Service District debt which reduces debt service payments. The plan as outlined would reduce debt service payments every year for the next 23 years and would save the county about $4.2 million over the next

10 years, she said. “Tonight this is the best scenario we can put before the board,” said Dickson, who said work had been underway on a plan for the last eight months. The debt maturity would be extended for five years until 2040. The looming maximum annual debt service payments of about $8.7 million in the last eight years of the previous arrangement would drop about 30 percent, to about $6.1 million yearly. see TCSD > page 8

Field Day celebrates 20 years By Ken Odor jodor@goochlandgazette.com

The Rockville-Centerville Steam & Gas Historical Association celebrated its 20th anniversary last weekend when it held its annual Field Day of the Past event. Good weather prevailed and organizers hoped for a turnout of more than 30,000, although Melinda Gammon, Editor of the Field Day of the Past news letter, said it would be some time before she had the numbers.

On the first day of the event last Friday Gammon said turnout appeared higher than usual, not surprising considering the ideal weather. In the Field Day Education building, Dean Tetterton, 69, explained how his Intertype Linotype machine worked to visitors,. The device, which melts bars of lead and forms then into lines of type, was commonly used in the last century at newspapers and print shops. see Field Day > page 12
