Dear Gonzaga Community, When Pope Francis appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s immediately after his election he said, “And now let us begin this journey…a journey of brotherhood in love…Let us pray for the whole world that there might be a great sense of brotherhood.” Pope Francis used these words because there is no stronger sign of the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth than that of people living as brothers and sisters.

How wonderful then that you will not find a school with a stronger sense of brotherhood than Gonzaga. Ask a Gonzaga student what he loves about Eye Street, and “brotherhood” will be at the top of his list. Ask our alumni who their closest friends are, and their response will almost certainly include their Gonzaga brothers many years after graduation. Attend the funeral of an alumnus, and you will find his fellow Eagles in the congregation. Gonzaga is for its sons a journey of brotherhood that lasts a lifetime.

The theme for this year’s Annual Fund appeal is Journey of Brotherhood, a journey that finds its origin in God’s own love. It is one of Gonzaga’s greatest gifts for which we can all be grateful—students, alumni, and parents alike.

Your generous response will support the scholarships, staff, and programming necessary for sustaining this great educational journey. Your gift helps make brotherhood on Eye Street possible for boys whose families would not otherwise be able to afford Gonzaga. Your support makes all the difference.

Tuition and auxiliary programs only cover about 85% of the school’s annual operating expenses. The Annual Fund is essential to make up that difference and keep tuition as low as possible for every single Gonzaga family.

More than 1/3 of Gonzaga families receive financial assistance that enables their son to attend. Your support of the Annual Fund provides need-based financial assistance so that every boy who has earned their spot at Gonzaga can attend.

As the cost of private school tuition continues to climb in the Washington region, your support of the Annual Fund keeps the cost of a Gonzaga education relatively low. For the coming year, tuition is 55% of the average for area private high schools.
