Bendigo Bank Nagambie returns 80% of their profits to the local community and the annual Community Grants program is one of the major ways in which this is achieved. In past years the program has supported a broad range of projects including over $8,460 to the Nagambie Preschool & Childcare Centre towards a nature based play area, $7,200 to Nagambie HealthCare towards their Community Care Hub and $3,000 to the Nagambie Lakes Men’s Shed for a new storage shed, just to name a few.
Our Directors' decisions will be around the immediate and long lasting benefits of the planned projects for the benefit of our local community.”

Community Bank Chairman Stephen Trompp says “We’re excited to be opening the Community Grants program once again, it is a highlight in the calendar for our volunteer Board of Directors.
“It’s important to remember that these funds are coming directly from our branch as a result of the community banking with us. It’s pretty simple, the more people we have banking with us the more we have to return to the community and our annual grants program is just one of the ways we are able to do this” Mrs. Johnson said.

The Parklea Development proposal was to be centred at the existing building that has been used in the past as a winery, restaurant and function centre. A mix of camping sites, caravan sites and cabins were proposed which at capacity would provide accommodation for in the order of 800 persons at peak times. Other facilities included a swimming pool and sporting facilities, together with informal recreation areas, four jetties and a boat ramp to provide access to the water.
Nagambie Branch Manager Teri Johnson said that “It’s always really interesting to read through the grant applications and find out what our community groups are up to. I particularly enjoy the times that we are able to link community groups together that are working towards a common goal.”
A number of resident objectors in the proceeding support the Council’s position. The tribunal found that there are many aspects of the development that are acceptable. However, they found there are aspects of the proposal that require further review or have not been satisfactorily addressed which have led to the conclusion that the proposal should not be approved in its current form.

Drivers who have not incurred demerit points or committed road safety offences in the previous three years will receive a 25 per cent discount off their next licence renewal, meaning a saving of up to $73 on a new ten-year driver’s license.
Ms Cleeland named improved regional health
“It shows the values of The Nationals are really important in our region when you have two young professional women putting their hand up for the nomination,” she said.
Cleeland said she had massive shoes to fill after with the retirement of popular MP Steph Ryan, but says she is confident she will be up to the job.
Ms Cleeland threw her support behind The Nationals’ election guarantee of 25 per cent of Victoria’s new capital spending going to regional communities. She stated the change would be transformative for towns across the region.
The Andrews Labor Government is slashing costs for new drivers and their families across the northeast with the abolition of learner and probationary license fees, as well as online testing fees.
“It can be super difficult balancing development with the history and feel of a town like Nagambie, but The Nationals’ Regional Infrastructure Guarantee will be a transformative system of support for our region.”
“Sobreakfast.many women work within the farming community, but they are not often acknowledged in public conversations or in the political arena. That’s why this initiative is so special and valuable. It provides farming women with a friendly meeting place as well as a safe space to ask for support if they need it.”
new online learner permit and hazard perception tests will also be free from Monday.
Development Officer Nicole Wells from NCN Health who coordinated the breakfast, explained how the purpose was to show appreciation for the many women active in the farming community as well as provide them with an opportunity to take a break from their many responsibilities and jobs at home.
“Thechild.local health services were unable to provide me with a safe birth, and that gave me insight into some of the extreme pressures that we’re facing when it comes to our health services and infrastructure investment,” she said.
“All of the activities, events and training opportunities are fully funded by the project. The overarching purpose is to improve mental health, wellbeing and resilience, by creating opportunities to improve social connection, better access to information, resources and support services, as well as training to build skills and capacity,” Nicole sums it up.
These changes build on other initiatives from the Labor Government to reduce costs for motorists and promote road safety.
Local journalist, farmer and entrepreneur Annabelle Cleeland has been preselected by The Nationals to contest the seat of Euroa at November’s Victorian election.

Often, the different activities will have a guest speaker and/or farmer health professional in attendance, so that receiving support is made easier for those needing it. “We are also in the planning stages of delivering Mental Health First Aid training,” Nicole adds.
On the 19th of August, the Community House in Nagambie facilitated a Farming Women’s Morning Tea.

“Nagambie is an incredibly attractive destination for people across the state and we need to ensure infrastructure and investment keeps up with that growth,” she said.
“This means supporting responsible growth while maintaining the culture of the town and making sure housing is affordable for locals, health services are accessible, and schools are properly funded.

Tahbilk Winery located south of Nagambie has an opening for a Full Time Permanent Grounds and Garden Manager.

The 20th Light Horse 'B' Troop was formed in 1938, by Griff Hopkins, from Nagambie and district men. Lieut. Jack Shelton was Troop Commander. The first meetings were held in the old kitchen building of the burnt out McDonald's Hotel on the corner of High and Goulburn streets. Each man supplied his own horse but was given some military equipment; a 303 rifle that was held in a bracket on the side of the horse, a sword and a uniform, with the trademark emu plumes in the hat. Men were paid five shillings a day, eight if they had their own horse. Early parades and training were held at 'Glencairn' and 'Chateau Tahbilk.'
“As they rode by squadrons in column of route along the macadam road into Broadmeadows, any familiar observer could recognise not only the same cast of features, but the same natural horsemanship, and the same easy seat in the saddle — an unorthodox seat, with lengthened stirrup and skilful bridal hand, the rider swaying in sympathy with the movements of his hack.”
camp was at Broadmeadows, with the second, on the Nagambie Road, just north of Seymour. At this second camp the Troop went over the Highlands to Yea. When training they
would ride their horses all night. In action men would hold three horses each, while the others used their rifles.

It was … visible proof that the Commonwealth Government's appeal for 70,000 men has met with a quick response from the young farmers of Australia, and the young tradesmen of the country towns. The new recruits, who comprise about two-thirds of those in camp, are the living images, flesh of the flesh, bone of the bone, and blood of the blood of the quiet boys who went into camps so long ago and later won imperishable honor on alien battlefields.

effort of our students and their families. And lets not forget the staff – another memorable performance. I loved how much joy students and families got from dressing up. COVID lockdowns reminded us all of the importance of the simple, routine parts of life and the joy of regular reading is certainly one of them.
On Monday the 8th of August, St. Mary’s, Rushworth visited our school for St.Mary Mackillop of the Cross’ Feast Day. We celebrate this because Mary Mackillop along with Fr. Julian TenisonWoods, started the Sisters of St. Joseph and opened Catholic schools for the underprivileged. The Josephite Sisters were responsible for establishing our school and St. Mary’s. Mary MacKillop is also Australia's first ever saint.

PRIMARY SCHOOL
We celebrated National Science Week with some fantastic activities last Friday, 19th August. It was great to see a large number of parents and other family members in attendance, joining in with the students. There were mixed aged groups, with a variety of fun, hands-on experiments to complete. As the students rotated through the activities there were lots of “a-ha” moments with learning and excitement. We also celebrated Book Week on Thursday 25th with a dress-up day. Much fun was had by all. After the parade, the students rotated through some book week activities, highlighting our love of literacy and books.

Throughout the month of July we held a food drive for St. Vincent De Paul. Families donated non-perishable goods to help those less fortunate & we were very impressed with the generosity of our school community. We were lucky enough to have Bill Keating from St. Vincent De Paul, Seymour come & collect the goods & explain how they will help people in need.

We were fortunate enough to have Tate from AFL Victoria visit on Tuesday 16th August. Tate took us through skills such as handballing, kicking, marking, kicking on the run & working as a team. The students had a fantastic time & look forward to seeing Tate again next week.

When the St. Mary’s students arrived, we had a little prayer service and learnt about Mary Mackillop’s life. When the prayer service was finished, we had our recess break together. After recess, we got split into 5/6s, 2/3/4s and F/1s & in these groups we rotated through three activities - a Nagambie Lake walk, meditation and quiz with Gen, making key rings with Miss Flynn and making a book and doing colourings withMrs Tang. Next we had lunch time and a sausage sizzle. Finally, we had another gathering before the Rushworth kids left. We had so much fun and enjoyed forming new connections

Wasn’t it great to be able to have our Book Week Parade again! After missing out the past two years, our students and staff certainly enjoyed dressing up and celebrating their favorite book characters. I was very impressed by the creativity and

and friendships with the St. Mary's students. We're already looking forward to next year!
