School improvements

We utilised the term 2 holidays to make some updates to the inside and outside of our school. Inside, we had our F/1 and 2/3 classrooms painted, thanks to Terry and Emmett O’Dwyer, giving them a much needed freshen up. The front of the school was also given a makeover by Danial and the team at Kialla Lawn & Garden, with some bushes removed, turf and crushed rock laid to make this a much more usable and inviting space for the students to learn and play. The flow-on effect of this is the students taking pride in their school, caring for our new grass and plants, and even volunteering their break times to clean drains and tidy the yard.
NAIDOC Week
We commemorated NAIDOC week in our first week of term 3. We began by having a Liturgy, where students enjoyed sharing prayers and songs. Following this, we had a discussion about what the theme ‘For or Elders’ means, what it means to be an Elder and what role Elders play in our community. Gen then read ‘Our Dreaming’ which explores a deep love and respect for Country. Students were asked to draw what they pictured in their minds while listening to the text, before being shown the illustrations.

Gnarly Neighbours
“Gnarly Neighbours is a not for profit youth group with the main focus on creating a positive space for kids & young adults, community building, positive mentoring, pathway training/ support, inspiring creativeness & individuality, teaching life long skills with the key point of making it relevant and fun.”
These are the inspiring goals of Gnarly Neighbours, and last week we loved having Jayden and his team work towards them with all our Gr 1-6 students at Nagambie skatepark.

Jayden is a truly talented instructor, promoting physical skills, personal & social development and wellbeing in incredibly fun sessions. Our community is very fortunate to have him supporting our children and young people.
The Gnarly Neighbours website gnarlyneighbours.com.au/ has information about how to book a private lesson or make a donation.
