How common is drug testing in the US?
For various employers, drug testing is part of the hiring procedure to ensure their employees are not under the influence of illegal drugs. In addition, regular drug screenings help ensure that employees do not endanger themselves or their colleagues by consuming illegal drugs. Many of these companies include this information in their job postings to be transparent to applicants. Our team analyzed job postings on Glassdoor to determine which types of jobs were most likely to have pre-employment drug testing and regular drug testing requirements. Our results are as follows. In over-all, less than 2% of jobs require pre-employment drug testing. In fact, only one U.S. city has an employment rate higher than 2.4%. In Arlington, Texas, nearly 7 percent of available jobs require pre-employment drug screening.
