Quail Village Golf Club

One of Naples’ Best Golf Values is now NEWLY RENOVATED

Quail Village Golf Club has

always been one of our favorites. It has redefined the Naples golf market by offering all the luxuries of membership at an exceptional value. With its recent renovation, Quail Village is raising the standard for its Village. Quail Village has now finished the first phase of its renovation project. This phase involved an investment of $1.2 million which went towards an enormous improvement in the golf course, as well as new lifestyle amenities. The renovation was completed in the summer by Glase Golf, a local construction company GolfCoastMagazine.com

that has earned awards and accolades for its work with the top golf communities in Southwest Florida. The renovation has not left any section of the course untouched – the team re-grassed the entire course, installed new fairways, roughs, greens, rebuilt the bunkers, replaced the cart paths, improved the course drainage, and laserlevelled all tee areas. The upgrades further Quail Village’s reputation as one of the best maintained golf courses in Naples. The club has also invested in adding

They are also growing their team, by welcoming new Head Pro and Membership Director Mike McBroom. Quail Village has set out a roadmap to continue improving its course and community. The second phase of their enhancement project is slated for 2022. Upon approval it will involve a complete makeover of the clubhouse, a wellness center, and a

Players should expect to use every club in their bag – there are three par 5’s, nine par 4’s, and six par 3’s – no matter who you are, the course will test and challenge you. All this means that players of all ages can stay competitive, and it’s helped the club maintain a fast pace of play. Even foursomes playing in season will be able to finish their rounds in under four hours!

The members at the club have created a beautiful Village that welcomes newcomers. Through a wide range of events, Quail Village creates a space for connection and community among both neighbors and non-resident members.

Heritage Bay Golf & Country Club

is Setting the Standard for Bundled Communities A $10 Million Investment in Lifestyle Amenities Staying at the top is tough, especially

for golf communities in Naples. Heritage Bay has managed that feat – by continuing to invest in the future of its club. Heritage Bay has completed a $10 million enhancement of its facilities: - Enlarging the existing resort-style pool, adding a waterfall feature, a beach entry and more deck seating. - Expanding the pool cafe to satisfy the members’ want for more outdoor casual dining. - Providing an updated and expanded kitchen to be able to offer more menu options and accommodate the Club’s social calendar and wedding business. - Creating an indoor/al fresco bar with expanded seating at the Grille Room. - Updating the Grille Room with new designer furnishings and décor The renovation was completed by Humphrey Rosal Architects with a strong focus on GolfCoastMagazine.com

building vibrant community amenities. While the golf course has always been a draw, the new renovation turns the clubhouse into a resort destination. “One of the main draws to Heritage Bay has always been the extraordinary 27 holes of golf with conditions that are considered some of the best in Florida,” stated Michel Anderson, President of Heritage Bay’s Board of Directors. “When you add the host of improved amenities and our greatest asset, our warm and welcoming members, it is easy to understand why our Club is the heartbeat of our community.” No five-star Golf & Country Club would be complete without excellent dining. Led by Executive Chef Sergey Kashkin, the expanded casual dining options have been an enormous success. There are now options for poolside bites, smart casual dining in the Grille Room, as well as an improved event space for formal dinners. The outdoor Cabana has been expanded

into the perfect place to have a fun cocktail with neighbors while enjoying Florida’s beautiful weather! Heritage Bay is a bundled golf community, which means that every resident has a stake in all the amenities of the club. Golf membership is included with your home purchase, offering an extraordinary value. It also means that every community member is invested in maintaining a worldclass clubhouse and golf facility, which is why this renovation was approved by an overwhelming vote. The community now boasts an extraordinary set of amenities that make life wonderful inside a private community – there are 27 holes of championship golf, 7 Har-Tru tennis courts,

“Heritage Bay is a beautiful community with meticulous attention paid to our grounds and amenities,” commented General Manager/ COO, Matthew Renner. “At the Club, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on our newly expanded outdoor dining venues and resort style pool area, which have provided increased activity and enjoyment for our members and their guests. Our stunning new facilities provide our members an opportunity to relax by the pool and enjoy an exquisite al fresco meal accompanied by live music or to savor a dining experience with an unparalleled view from our elevated Grille Room terrace. We are thrilled to have enhanced the desire our members have to spend time together and enjoy their club.” Since 2006, the club has been developed with active adults in mind – providing them with a full suite of lifestyle choices that keep them returning to the club. That sense of community keeps members invested for the long term, and has been the cornerstone of Heritage Bay’s success.

Olde Hickory Completes Major Clubhouse Renovation

Olde Hickory Golf & Country Club has always been a special community. With just 561 homes, Olde Hickory

is the lowest density bundled community in Southwest Florida. That has always created an extraordinary experience for members – even those who play every day have no problem getting a tee time. Yet Olde Hickory was looking to do more! The Club just completed an investment off the golf course – expanding and improving the Clubhouse to build on the already unique Olde Hickory experience. The renovation touches on the entire facility – the Clubhouse has been expanded, the bar has been upgraded with eleven new large screen TVs, a new outdoor terrace has been built, there’s a new fire pit, and a new Grille Room in the Clubhouse. Outside the Clubhouse, the pickleball courts have been resurfaced and updates for the golf course have been planned for summer 2028. “Olde Hickory has completed an enormous GolfCoastMagazine.com

investment in the future of our Club. The newly renovated clubhouse is a place where neighbors can become close friends, and truly places Olde Hickory at the top of the market for bundled communities,” commented Bryan Rosich, General Manager, “Our new Grille Room will be at the center of our community – an elegant yet casual space where members will be treated to phenomenal meals delivered by our world class food and beverage team.” The Grille Room is a social venue where members can enjoy Sunday brunches, holiday sing-a-longs, and themed entertainment events. No matter whether you are completing a round of golf or dropping in for dinner, cheering on your favorite sports team, or meeting before dinner, the new circular bar is an extraordinary spot to gather with friends. The new Hickory Top Terrace is another highlight. The Terrace overlooks the

golf course and is a beautiful spot where members can watch the stunning Fort Myers sunsets as the final players finish their rounds at the end of the day. The Olde Hickory community was firmly behind the investment in the Clubhouse amenities. Membership is included with home ownership at Olde Hickory, so every homeowner is invested in improving the community amenities. The beautifully renovated space has helped to further grow home values and has helped the already close-knit community build even closer connections. “I love living at Olde Hickory because our community is large enough to have a variety of personalities and opportunities, but small enough to know many people and be part of a smaller family atmosphere. With only

561 residences, we can play golf as often as we want. Our newly expanded Clubhouse is beautiful, and the food is very good. We are blessed to live here.” – Pam & Bob, Olde Hickory Members It’s clear why Olde Hickory is among the top bundled communities in Southwest Florida. With this investment, Olde Hickory will continue to deliver on its commitment to deliver a premier golf and lifestyle experience.

His commitment to Olde Hickory’s members is stronger than ever, still after all this time! Chef Werner has managed to build a strong culinary team that works well, hand in hand, with the front of the house. “We are looking forward to a very busy and eventful season”, says Werner. After a full clubhouse renovation during the summer of 2020, with an expansion of the bar and terrace area, the whole F&B team is ready to wine and dine “year around members” as well as “Northern members.” Our calendar is packed with events like Themed Dinner nights, Dinner Dances, “Cooking with the Chef ”, Wine & Dine dinner along with our own Level 1 Sommelier on staff and a variety of Carving stations. Not to mention the countless Golf events and tournaments that usually end with a nice fair in the clubhouse, whether it is a luncheon or a well-planned awards dinner. Werner found his love for cooking by helping his mom in the kitchen, many years ago. Putting together family meals, back home in Germany. After completing a 3-year apprenticeship program, the young chef went on to gain experience by working in upscale restaurants in Switzerland, sailed around the world three times, while working on the Royal Viking Sun, a 5-star luxury cruise ship. He also worked in AucklandNew Zealand, Toronto-Canada, and finally moved to Florida, in March of 2000. In 2005, Werner accepted a position at the Ritz Carlton Beach resort and since September 2007 Werner found his home at Olde Hickory golf and Country Club. 5 Golf Tips to Strike Your Irons Better 1. Set up with good posture and balance, making sure your feet should be shoulder width apart. 2. Make sure to transfer your weight to the right on the backswing and then to your left on the downswing by rotating your hips and shoulders (opposite for left-handed golfer). 3. Keep your head still and keep your posture and balance through the impact zone. 4. Hands should be ahead of the ball at impact; you want to see a divot after the ball. 5. Point your chest to the target when you finish your swing and get up on your right toe (or left toe, for a left-handed golfer).

HOMES

Finding the Best SWFL Golf Community for YOU!” By Joe Morgan-GOLF HOME GURU Like thousands of other people

from all around the world, you’ve decided that you want to live in one of Southwest Florida’s incredible golf communities. But with so many beautiful golf communities from which to choose, how do you determine the right one for you? Even if you’ve owned or rented here for a number of years, this can still be quite challenging…and a search process that should be fun and exciting can sometimes turn exhausting and over-whelming. The first step to finding your dream home in a SWFL golf community is to find the community that best Download the new

GOLF HOME GURU® iPhone/iPad App from the Apple App Store!

fits YOUR budget, golfing habits and ability, and family lifestyle. To do this, you need to answer the following questions… • BUDGET—In addition to the purchase price of the home, what annual costs are acceptable to you? Annual ownership expenses will consist of HOA/condo fees, golf/ social membership fees, real estate taxes, cart fees, and possibly special assessments and/or food & beverage minimums. After you total up the home’s annual costs, it then helps to estimate how much time you and your family will be at this home each year. Determine if you can justify this annual expense. If not, move on to a home and golf community that better fit your budget. • GOLFING HABITS & ABILITY—How much golf will you and your spouse play each week you’re at your SWFL home? Do you prefer to walk when you play golf? Do you

want to have your own golf cart? How tough a golf course can you handle? It’s essential to find a golf course that you and your spouse ENJOY. • FAMILY LIFESTYLE—What other community amenities and activities will you and your family use most…tennis; fitness center; resort pool; lap pool; pickle ball; bocce ball; spa; casual dining; formal dining? And, what non-community activities—ie beaches; shopping; movies; dining; etc.—are most important to you and your family? The second step is to then select the golf community “category” that best matches up with your answers to the above questions. SWFL essentially features three types of golf communities—public; private bundled; and private equity/non-equity—and each category has its own unique features and fee structures. • PUBLIC GOLF COMMUNITIES—These are housing developments that surround public golf courses. These communities typically have lower prices on single family homes and condos, and more affordable annual costs. They provide the opportunity to live in a golf environment, but without paying an initiation fee or annual golf fees…you simply pay-as-you-play each round of golf. They’re a great deal for individuals or families that aren’t going to be

HOMES

in SWFL much of the year, and also for owners that don’t play much golf. These communities normally feature relatively-low HOA/condo fees, but most of them offer basic country club amenities such as pools, fitness centers, tennis, and limited dining. • PRIVATE BUNDLED GOLF COMMUNITIES—Purchasing a home in one of these communities gets you a full golf/social membership without having to pay an initiation fee. Their annual golf/social membership fees range from about $4,000-$7,000/year. This category is economically attractive to owners who are going to be in SWFL at least 3-4 months of the year and plan to play a lot of golf. These communities offer outstanding golf courses, a full array of amenities, and they constantly update their courses and facilities. GolfCoastMagazine.com

If they have any flaw, it’s their high golfer count…typically 799 golf members per 18-holes. • PRIVATE EQUITY/NONEQUITY GOLF COMMUNITIES—These communities require an upfront initiation fee for a golf membership, currently ranging from $12,000-$150,000. The median is around $50,000-$60,000, and there are a number of outstanding communities in this range. Only about 25% of the communities currently offer refunds when the golf membership is terminated, with refunds ranging from 10%-100%. Golf memberships are optional in some communities and mandatory in others, so make sure you know the requirements of the ones that you’re considering. Annual fees in these communities normally range from about $8,000-$12,000/year

HOMES

(roughly double the bundled golf communities). Lush landscaping, championship golf courses, elaborate and elegant facilities, and maximum amenities are common to this category…especially in the higherend communities. A big advantage of these communities is that they restrict their number of golf memberships to 300-400 per 18-holes, so it’s a lot easier to get on the course during the busy winter season.

EUROPEAN TOUR PROFESSIONAL JOOST LUITEN DESIGNS HIS OWN SIGNATURE LINE OF DUCA DEL COSMA GOLF SHOES Duca del Cosma brand ambassador and six-time Dutch Tour champion Joost Luiten collaborated with the company’s head designer, Baldovino Mattiazzo to co-design and produce two distinct signature Joost Luiten (JL) styles. Who better to collaborate with Mattiazzo than a professional golfer? Luiten knows first-hand the challenging demands of a European Tour season and their effects on body, particularly the feet. Last season, he tallied over 317 miles walking. “I was really surprised when Duca told me I walked more than half a million yards in tournaments last season, and that doesn’t include practice rounds or Pro-am events,” said Joost. “It shows just how important it is for me to have a pair of comfortable as well as functional shoes when I cover so much ground in different playing conditions across Tour events in Europe, the Middle East and South Africa.” The new signature Joost Luiten Collection from Duca del Cosma feature a soft Italian Nappa leather, the waterproof upper from the award-winning BELAIR model, an integrated waterproof sock system which keep feet

comfortable in the wettest of conditions combined with the new ELPASO sole, designed for traction and stability at impact. This exclusive hybrid style is available in two colorways: White/ Camouflage Green (JL1) and Black/White (JL2), with contrasting orange detailing and laces that match his Sunday color on Tour. “These new shoes in the Joost Luiten Collection are among the most comfortable golf shoes I’ve ever worn and I’m proud to be wearing attractive and comfortable Duca del Cosma shoes that are designed and made to such a high standard in Europe,” he added. The new signature Joost Luiten Collection from Duca del Cosma will be available this fall. For more information, please visit www.ducadelcosma.us.

Nice People, Great Golf!

Englewood

Oyster Creek Golf Club S LUB AL LCABLE T N RE AVAI

Not your typical executive golf course, Oyster Creek, designed by Ted McAnlis, is both challenging and scenic. Accuracy off the tee is important as water comes into play on 13 of the 18 holes. Distance is critical on only a few of the par 4s, but even low-handicap golfers find they play to their handicap. Oyster Creek offers meticulouslymanicured greens surrounded by environmentally-protected natural wetlands. 6651 Oriole Blvd. Englewood, FL 34224 941-475-0334 www.oystercreekgolfclub.com
